You won't have to say, "shall we continue in sin that grace may abound" because it would be totally unwarranted.

The only reason you'd have to say that is when you've undermined the importance of righteousness because of grace, because it would inevitably make sin to abound, hence the need to say that.

Jesus didn't need to say that because Jesus didn't debase righteousness because of anything including grace, but stressed it to a fault!

These are just a few instances that illustrated the extent to which Jesus emphasized the importance of righteousness in a believers life, that He left no doubt concerning that.

So sinning was not an issue with the church He built, because His disciples knew from the onset that righteousness was required of them, and that sinning was not an option, so there was no need for "shall we continue in sin that grace may abound" in that church because righteousness abounded.

But look at the church you have today, a pastor would commit adultery, and he'd talk about grace of God.

A nairalander here even said that even if Jesus came while he was on top on a girl fornicating, that he would still be saved, obviously because of grace.

And you have a church leader rape a girl and no remorse because of some grace he has been taught that covered him regardless.

So grace was being used to justify all manner of atrocity hence iniquity abounds.

Hence I ask, why debase the importance of righteousness because of grace at all, so that you'd later say "shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?"

Why give men that excuse or encouragement to justify and continue in their sins and wickedness because of grace in the first place?

I choose to emphasize righteousness as Jesus the Master did instead of grace, so that I wouldn't have to later say "shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?" Because the sheep just as Jesus' disciples, would know that righteousness was an obligation, hence that sin wasn't an option.

So righteousness instead would abound.
