I believe what is really holding us back is lack of research and indifference on our path here in Nigeria. For the purpose of this topic: is there any nigerian mathematical society? Do we have a current & active publishing journal? What is our say on mathematics education in Nigeria? Are mathematicians here recognised? |

There is a mathematical association of Nigeria. Their website is http://mathematicalassociationofnigeria.org/ Nigeria has produced a lot of mathematical geniuses. Adegoke Olubunmo, Chike Obi, S.O. Fatunla and others. We also have a lot of mathematicians in the diaspora, I am sure. Right now, we're not mature industrially, but I think mathematicians should move more into mainstream. Finance, computing . . . there are a lot of opportunities for mathematicians, I think. Only a matter of time. |
