The political opposition in Chad is reacting to the newly formed Chadian transitional military council’s declaration of General Mahamat Deby Itno as president of the republic following the death of his father.



According to Mahamat Bichara, a spokesman for the main opposition parties:

We, the opposition political parties, call on the Chadian people not to obey the Transitional Military Council’s (TMC) illegal, illegitimate, and irregular decisions, such as the transitional charter, curfews, and border closures, and to remain vigilant against any form of seizure of power or its confiscation by force.”

The parties have also addressed France’s calls for a democratic transition, as the former colonial master seeks to maintain its relationship with Chad under the now-deceased Deby.

Mahamat Bichara went on to say:

“We caution French authorities, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and French army generals, not to meddle in Chad’s internal affairs.”

Chad may be on the verge of a political crisis as political tensions rise, potentially leaving the Sahel region vulnerable to the ongoing jihadist insurgency, despite the fact that the country’s army has been a notable anti-terrorist force.

The government should do well to shut all borders because very soon Chadians will start migrating to neighbouring countries for food and protection!!

We have loads of problems in Nigeria right now than to be competing with Chadians for food on our own territory!!

The ones that migrated from Niger and Cameroon decades ago are still here milking us dry, proposing NIN and PVC for cows!!

I won't be surprise if there are additional polling units across cattle ranches and paddocks come 2023!

Chad has the whole french West Africa on bondage.
If they don't shake off France, they can't move forward.
