Obasanjo Takes A Swipe At Daniel’s 8-year Govt by Nobody: 9:07pm On Apr 21, 2011
ABEOKUTA– FORMER
President Olusegun
Obasanjo has taken a swipe
at the eight years
administration of Governor
Olugbenga Daniel of Ogun
State and decried the high
level of infrastructural decay.
Gbenga and Obasanjo
The former president who
led other PDP leaders in the
Southwest including the
Vice-Chairman, Tajudeen
Oladipupo, Senator Yinka
Omilani, former governor of
Osun State, Prince
Olagunsoye Oyinlola
thanked the party
supporters for standing bye
the party noting that the
PDP in the state had been
repositioned to serve the
people better if voted into
power.
He decried the deplorable
condition of roads in
Abeokuta metropolis, adding
that he was influential to the
dualisation of the Sagamu-
Abeokuta Expressway.
He blamed the perennial
water scarcity in Ogun State
on the failure of the state
government under the
leadership of Governor
Daniel explaining that the
non-remittance of N1billion
counterpart funding of
the state government to
complement N1billion
provision he made into
the budget.
He equally described the
recent reduction in the
school fees being paid by
students in Ogun State as a
belated effort adding that
the administration of
Governor Daniel has
embarked on the last minute
rush
in order to impress the
people of the state.
He however advised the
masses of Ogun State not to
be deceived but should vote
right noting that they
should not vote for someone
who will be remitting 30 per
cent of the revenue to be
generated in Ogun
State to Lagos State.
He said “I have always
wanted the best for Nigeria
that was why I did everything
within my power to ensure
that Jonathan emerged as
President in the last
election”.
He appealed to the
electorate in the state not to
allow themselves to be
“deceived by the PPN
propaganda”, insisting that
the party (PPN) had nothing
to offer them.
According to him, the PPN
leadership is made up of a
faction of the PDP which
ruled the state for eight
years and instead of
improving the lives if the
people, their lives were
worsened, adding,“Don’t let
them defraud you again”.
He expressed confidence in
Olurin’s leadership, saying
“he (Olurin) did it in Oyo
and Ekiti States, he can do it
again if given the chance”.
