Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, held a meeting with the state Council of Traditional Rulers ahead of the April 26 gubernatorial and state Assembly elections.

The governor urged the royal fathers to ensure that peace reigned supreme in their domains before, during and after the polls.

He told the Obas that he had assured the Hausa/Fulani communities and other people from the North of their safety in the state, following outbreak of violence in the Northern part of the country.

Fayemi told the monarchs that it would be very important to pay attention to security operatives ahead of the polls to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the state.

He said traditional rulers were critical to security issues in their domains, urging them to cooperate with security agencies in ensuring violence-free elections in the state.

It's very important to ensure peace on April 26th. We dont want the same riot in the North to happen in the SW.

I believe that any imbe-cilic eediot that wants to start riot should be immediately shot.
