As we look at The Future of the Maritime Industry in Nigeria, the maritime sector in Nigeria has undoubtedly had its demurs and successes, over the years there’s been strategies and propositions towards tackling its numerous challenges in order to intensify its achievements and accomplishments. Nigeria has been recognized as one of the reputable maritime nations in the world, with over 8,000 kilometres of navigable inland and coastal channels as well as its fresh water lakes. A cursory view of the future of the maritime industry in Nigeria, presents a somewhat lucid picture, if strategies are put in place and enforced to tackle the numerous challenges confronting the industry.
The nation really needs to start thinking strategically about The Future of the Maritime Industry in Nigeria, if it aims to revamp the maritime sector and create a significant future for effective international trade and an efficient maritime economy, like world notable maritime nations such as, the United States, Denmark, Panama and Nicaragua. In addition, the Nigerian government need to step in and contribute immensely towards the development of the maritime sector.

Programs such as digital supply chain proficiency and management and financial empowerment, should be created aimed at re-enforcing human capital within the maritime sector. Nigeria should also take a cue from other developed maritime nations like Norway, the Netherlands, the US and Denmark and create more professional maritime networks in order to allow prospective maritime entrepreneurs to acquire requisite enterprise skills as well as increase their social capital, in a bid to improving The Future of the Maritime Industry in Nigeria rejuvenating efficiency and viability in the maritime industry in Nigeria. In saner climes such as the United States, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, where the sector is so modified with a leading and working industry constituting top notch facilities where ships hun and other ancillary services in maritime and logistics blossom, it is important for Nigeria to take a cue from these nations and totally develop her maritime industry as this will attract foreign investors to it. The maritime sector in Nigeria can have a luminous and promising future if government, key players and stakeholders fully harness the powers inherent in digital technologies in its operations. Thankfully, there are a number of companies who are fully equipped and prepared for that future. With the use of Internet of Things (IoT), aiding in automating repetitive tasks carried out by employees, so as to provide them ample time to carry out more strenuous tasks, thereby increasing efficiency, the maritime industry in Nigeria can function maximally. With IoT, there is increased productivity. Billions of devices get connected to the Internet which makes it easier to share and track data, which can help in reducing the clumsy
