The Management of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, has directed all students to vacate their residences and go home over rising cases of insecurity, saying any student who stays behind does so at his own risk.


DAILY POST gathered that students of the polytechnic in Saapade and Isara have in recent times become victims of robbery, rape among other security challenges.

The Ogun State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Tuesday, said it would shut down all schools if the state government fails to take actions.

In an internal memo signed by the Registrar, J. O. Popoola, the polytechnic ordered that all students proceed on a mid-semester break with effect from the close of work on Wednesday, April 28.


This, he said was due to the security challenges around the student residences.

The polytechnic disclosed that the ongoing examination would continue after the security situation improves.

The memo, with reference number: GPS/ARI/VOL.1/320 reads:

“In line with the decision of the management, all students are to proceed on a mid-semester break with effect from close of work on Wednesday, 28th of April, 2021.

“This is due to the security challenges around the students’ residences. Please note that the ongoing examination shall continue immediately the security situation improves.


“Meanwhile, all students shall vacate their residencies and go home. Any student that stays behind does so at his or her own risk.

Please you guys have to cut our Yoruba countrymen some slacks. These are peculiar times for them considering they're a people everyone have been describing with adjectives such as fear-fear, cowardice, treachery and the like. For the first time, they now have been in an exact situation with Igbo by facing the same threat - Fulani. That Igbo found a response is a pain in their heart since it lent credence to the impression that they are fearful people. That is why they have all turned preachers of Somalia and Afghanistan. "Una dey turn una place to war zone". In truth, it is jealousy that Igbo has been able to defend their homeland. What can only be a dream to them. While I dont absorb Igbos here of blame, its annoying the rate at which yorubas who are co-sufferers of the fulani domination are wishing the worst for Igbos at the slightest opportunity. Even though the southeast is barely perturbed by the esn clash with the high handed security forces, yorubas are wishing it to be another northeast and Afghanistan. Why?

How many fulanis are on this platform? Its largely Igbos and yorubas. Sometimes its had not to give your people a taste of thier own medicine. But if you're one sane yoruba out there who see yourself as a victim too of the fulani born to rule mindset, then you have my regrets.

Yorubas and Igbos should be working together now to free ourselves from domination. This is a golden opportunity.
