A permeable pavers framework joins a series of plastic grids. It has fill materials such as gravel, limestone, or sod, to create a durable parking surface. It allows moisture to soak into the ground naturally. Alternative to conventional asphalt or concrete surfaces, permeable pavers are used. These conventional surfaces are expensive to install, prone to damage. It requires complicated drainage systems to control water from rainfall or flood.

With aging wastewater systems, the permeable pavement has become increasingly popular in municipalities. It is often used where there is a need for permanent or temporary parking or roads. It can also be used for permanent parking, lawn parking, driveways, and erosion control. Permeable pavement does not require expensive specialty equipment like asphalt or concrete surfaces which are difficult to install.

For permeable pavements, the ground must be cleared of vegetation and graded and as a base, a layer of rock is installed, and then the grids are laid out. The placed grids are filled with gravel or limestone and compacted into a strong and durable surface.
