Granger: You need to shut up for real. They REJECT for two reasons 1. Police Report in cases of gunshot wounds out of the fear that trouble the police could create for them for treating an armed robber. 2. Over treatment deposits. Even if it is a life threatening situation, they will say bring money first. Stop insulting people's intelligence. |

Pierocash:Killing & arrest of armed robbers, kidnappers, bandits & other organised crime reported day in day out by the Police is not easy, they cannot do it all, despite lack of logistics & welfare, just like in a family you try your best but some relatives still think you are not doing enough & they castigate you, unlike these health staff who are reasonably paid, has a Union to protect their interest,if they embark on strike, their salary or whatever get increased but Police reverse is the case, even the promises during endsars saga nothing was done. But don't beat your wife or assault her in any form & you still think when she or neighbors report you to Police it doesn't concern them ooo. Although many do not know how the police functions, despite their education or the deprivations Police faces. They lay down their life to protect the people who hate them so much.So you can see, they are not useless as you said |

CodeTemplar: you should've added this before your statements: 'In defense of the hospital staff ' The hospital should've put up a notice saying they don't handle emergencies and only open to 'easy-to-handle' cases. Very unprofessional |

This is the reason why I do not regard any bitch who is a nurse or a doctor. These morons killed my uncle's wife for Portharcourt. A woman who just put to bed and has lost a lot of blood due to the CS operation she had. Nurses who were supposed to give her drip just left her and were busy chatting in the reception room until this woman passed away due to extreme dehydration. Upon all the thousands my uncle paid. |

This act is not only sane but legal. The Compulsory Treatment of Accident and other Victims Act of 2015 mandates public hospitals to accept and treat such patients first, before making any demands. However, as it relates to private care homes or hospitals, it may only be morally and or professionally binding on them to so do but this has no legal backing except otherwise revealed by further research. Well, Nigerians are waking up, we are the real enforcement officers, not just the Government Agencies. |

neurosci: Well, most of those "countries" have systems that take care of health care, so patients don't have to abscond. Health care is free in Most south America and European countries, while countries it isn't free have insurance. But none of such exists in Nigeria here. |

Granger:I feel like to headbutt you from here. What nonsense referral are you talking about in emergency cases? Any hospital or doctor that can not administer first aid in emergency cases should not be called a hospital or Doctor. |

neurosci:Don't mind the ignoramus saying things he know nothing about. How will a hospital refer a patient they know nothing about or what the patient is suffering from? People like him will only learn when they or those close to them become victims. |

All of u jumping to insult hospitals when they reject patients; don't worry; go and make money so that u can be treating people on credit. Do you know how expensive it is to run a hospital? Everyone who works in a hospital is paid a better salary compared to other sectors; even a cleaner that works in a hospital is paid better than a cleaner working in a bank. Most people will just rush with someone to the hospital and expect to be treated free because they are poor. All of you are hypocrites.... where u de work u de work free for people? sometimes them go just pick accident victims from the road and expect hospitals to be treating them free. why don't you start donating your full salary so that they can be treated!! it's always easy 2 judge? Doctors are meant to save lives but they need to take care of their families too 3 Likes 1 Share |

Bigpat:they can't handle all the armed robbers, kidnappers, and bandits? But have extra time to patrol and arrest innocent youths and tag them Yahoo boys? They have enough logistics to go about extorting, and setting up people with exhibits with same loaded guns and magazines meant for armed robbers? Nigeria police is as useless as the "P" in Psychology. Left for me,the entire Nigeria Police Force should be disbanded. Establishing community policing will best serve the people than those criminals in uniform. |

Ayemileto: Go to Cotonou next door to Nigeria, patients abscond from hospitals there all the time. Or ask anyone you know. Yet, they don't just reject patients at the emergency anyhow, even if such patients who absconded in the past show up again. They neither have insurance nor free healthcare. When a patient in a critical condition who is in a coma or unable to speak is brought to an emergency unit, how does the doctor determine that the patient does not have health insurance? I do know a few people who have health insurance in Nigeria, it's not like health insurance does not exist in Nigeria. In a situation where one of those few who have health insurance in Nigeria is rushed to a hospital in a critical condition after a ghastly accident unable to speak, how does the doctor determine immediately that he does not have health insurance nor the ability to pay when they turn them back immediately? Even in those western countries where healthcare is not free - such as America - does everyone have health insurance? Do they turn patients who have no ability to pay away? 1 Like |
