BAYELSA MOVIE SUMMIT IS THE WAY FORWARD TO STRENGTHEN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY IN BAYELSA STATE.



In a bid to make Bayelsa State the next hub of movie productions, the state chapter of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) is in a top gear in making preparation for a Bayelsa Movie Summit in the state.

Maxwell Jerry Opoikumo, chairman of the Association in the state made the disclosure after meeting with a philanthropist and a great fan of Nollywood Chief. Pastor Reuben Clifford Wilson in Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom state.

Opoikumo said the movie submit will further strengthen the movie industry in Bayelsa because his administration will create platform for stakeholders to deliberate the way forward on how the Government and the private sectors can come in, discussed areas that are affecting the movie industry noting that the summit is aimed promoting indigenous movie producers and exposing the rich tourist sites to the world.

Speaking to Nolly TV in Uyo, the chairman also used the opportunity to revealed that there will be a Gloryland film festival that will be hosted in yenagoa the capital city of Bayelsa state but the Bayelsa Movie Summit will talk on series of activities by the association that will herald the festival later in the year.

He said the festival will feature symposium, talks sessions because his Government is all-inclusive, saying he will not play politics with training and retraining of members stressing that movies produced by indigenous Movie producers will be showcased at the festival.

Opoikumo explained that this will help build the capacity of producers to compete with their counterparts in other parts of the world.

He further explained that the movie industry has the capacity to engage and empower youths in the different sectors of the industry.
