Presidency, Others Should Leave Mbaka Alone - Ugonna Utulor by Sarakist: 8:12am On May 06, 2021

6th May, 2021.

Yesterday while the sky prepared to turn bluer than ever before all over the world, the streets of Enugu turned red as angry youths descended on Bishop's Court and Holy Ghost Cathedral in protest of the detention of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, by the Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga. This ungodly detention followed wild media persecution of Rev. Mbaka by media bandits at the presidency.

Mbaka had been invited to the diocesan headquarters on Tuesday and had been prevented from leaving till all hell broke loose on Wednesday. The presidency, wallowing in the wilderness of blame games, had responded to Mbaka's demand for better leadership or total abdication from the stage of governance with a claim from hell. Rather than accept responsibility for the security misfortunes seen everywhere across Nigeria, the presidency alleged that Mbaka was speaking the truth only because Mbaka and his associates had been denied contracts.

A man who sowed seeds naturally would expect to harvest fruits, but Mbaka who had sowed twice towards the Buhari project, and against the wishes of his kinsmen, was denied from harvesting fruits. If Mbaka came for a contract after all he had done to bring Buhari into government, Mbaka should have been given contracts. Having failed to repay Mbaka for his support, even while repaying Pantami and Gumi, a decent presidency shouldn't have washed its dirty linen in the open. But lost in the profligacy of indecency, the Buhari presidency gave the most shocking of responses to Mbaka's innocent and godly demand for effective leadership.

Suddenly Mbaka, once a darling of the presidency and a rising star in the Catholic Church, became an enemy, an Ipobian and a persona nongrata. And when Mbaka was detained by the Catholic Church perhaps at the behest of the presidency, the bait for anarchy was set lose to a post #ENDSARS crowd ready for anarchy.

The response of the masses shows the level of support Mbaka has. But Mbaka didn't get this support through the backdoor. He didn't give anyone N1000 to protest for his release. Mbaka has rather built a fanatic support base by listening to God and speaking the mind of God even when it goes against the wishes of the powers of this earth. Like Micaiah ben Imlah, the prophet who in 1 Kings 22:1-38, defied the lying spirit that came upon the prophets of Israel to speak the truth to King Ahab and foretell his imminent destruction, Mbaka has stood on the path of the truth saying it as he heard it from God even when doing so threatens his fortunes, his future and his fame.

Indeed, saying it just as he heard it from God has earned Mbaka accolades on some occasions and derision at others. It has won him fans and foes, stardom and sanctions. Yet on the occasions when his truth upset the people, Mbaka has largely been misunderstood. For whereas we imagined Mbaka had connived with the forces of iniquity, Mbaka only spoke what God had revealed to him.

In 2015 and 2019 he prophesied the eventual victory of Muhammadu Buhari. In 2020, he prophesied the supreme Court victory of Supreme Court Governor Hope Uzodimna of Imo State. In all of these cases, Mbaka went against the tide but Mbaka never went against the message of the Lord.

A man speaking the mind of God should be left alone. If Mbaka is blessing Nnamdi Kanu, perhaps we too should have an introspection. How can we curse a man God has blessed? We may not like him, but if God likes him we need to see how we can also like him. For, to avoid the wrath of God, it is best we're on the side of the Lord. And when we finally grow to like him perhaps then we can draw him back when he moves to the unrighteous path. We need to like him so we can dialogue like friends rather than have a shouting match and probably an ungodly shootout with unknown men wielding ungodly guns.

Mbaka has consistently shown to hear from God. He should be left alone to keep doing the work of God.
