You see this talk about restructuring that the South is clamouring for? It won't fly the way it is being pushed. The reason is that the North has been sold the strong medicine that restructuring will be disastrous for the North. Only a tiny minority in the North knows that restructuring will make the North richer, safer, and better.

Because of this and because of the near impossibility of changing key things in the Constitution, restructuring will be frustrated ad infinitum until Nigeria can no longer crawl.

The best bet is for different groups from the South and any willing part of the Middle Belt to change the tune from restructuring to dissolution. Dissolution or disintegration is the only word that rattles the North.
That is the only word that can make the North agree for a discussion on what to do with Nigeria.

The only time the North showed some seriousness about restructuring was in 2017 after Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail but insisted on BiafraExit. Buhari (that mouthed restructuring before election but abandoned it immediately after being sworn in) quickly resuscitated the Nasir el-Rufai Committee. Many Northerners began discussing the same restructuring which they had pooh-poohed all along. The Northern Youths came out with the Quit Notice to Igbos in the North as a threat but many people and groups condemned them for that.
Then Kanu played into the hands of a vengeful Buhari (who was looking for an opportunity to descend on him) by breaking the conditions of his bail and threatening to bring back the head of Buhari on a platter, and forming the Biafra Secret Service. Buhari seized the opportunity and sent the army to his home and the rest is history.

Immediately Kanu disappeared from the scene and the clamour for secession died down, the issue of restructuring fizzled out. Since then till today, there has not been any serious talk on restructuring.

Our people say that when you go for a negotiation for a cow, you should not ask for a cow, or else you may get a goat or chicken. You are advised to ask for at least 10 cows or an elephant. You may eventually get a cow.

I think dissolution is the best for Nigeria because of strong foundational and fundamental irreconcilable differences. Restructuring is just an alternative. It is good that Nigeria tries restructuring for some years to confirm if it is good or not. But in the long run the best thing will be for as many countries as possible to emerge from Nigeria, with the Igbos on their own, Yorubas on their own, Hausas on their own or with the Fulanis and any willing groups, Kanuris on their own, Akwa-Cross on their own, Tiv, etc on their own.

Even if 20 countries emerge on ethnic lines from Nigeria but the citizens of the new countries are happier, safer, more progressive, more innovative and more productive, it will be better than what we have today. It won't stop people from getting married across borders or maintaining relationships or visiting one another or doing things together.

Size is useless if it only brings quarrels, bloodshed and backwardness. There is no single advantage that has emanated from Nigerian size. If you know of any, please name it.

Absolutely, Dissolution gives the North nightmare.

I agree that the whole noise about restructuring was because IPOB was protesting all over the East and cities accross the globe. Immediately Nnamdi Kanu left the country, we went back to normal. But this rising now is a violent one and wont die down easily. We are headed for a major crisis that will lead to a split. The only issue here is that the South and her leaders have not seen what is coming.

The Northern border is open and Fulani's from Ghana, Mali, Somalia are trooping into the country.

They are advancing down south gradually, government code named them bandits but they are on a mission to conquer.

South wake up. Your children and women will be slaughtered. these men are armed to the teeth

Unity beggars

Cry cry babies

The time is now because we can't all be living in denials. Whether they are being rattled or not, we the South Easterners don't give a bleep.

We want out because we can't continue to be living with leeches and parasites.

Is not by force to live together, if a marriage is not working the both parties have the right to call for divorce.

Now, is the time for divorce from this forced marriage that hasn't yield anything positive.

God bless the land of the rising sun
