Non Payment Of Interns And Some Members Of Staff In UCH Ibadan by Veenopzy: 5:48pm On May 07, 2021
The interns and members of staff of the Universities College  Hospital as a group in various branches have remained faithful by performing their respective duties, the federal government, true to type has reneged on its part to see to the timely consistent  payment of these aforementioned sect. The protest organized today the 7th May 2021 is to Express the gross dissatisfaction towards the welfare of our members.

Nurse interns as well as other interns of the University College hospital Ibadan  have not been paid for the past five months or have suffered gross under payment. While confirming that the federal government  through the ministry  of health  is defraying the generally withheld five months salaries at an agonisingly slow rate of 15 thousand naira per two months for some, while the salaries of some running to hundreds have been permanently and consistently withheld. Officials of the ministry keep adducing flimsy untenable reasons for the perpetual non- payment of salaries, to the recent detachment of medical interns.

The hospital Management of UCH have been unable to solve this lingering crisis, while giving a wanton number of reasons for being incapacitated to pay both the interns and the members of staff.

“The interns and members of staff are made to suffer abject penury while the management expects our members, who now live on charity for survival to use their personal resources to discharge their duties diligently in the hospital. We demand the immediate and unconditional payment of the interns and members of staff

These harsh conditions would have terrible consequences on the public and the tertiary health institutions where this persists in Nigeria and when push eventually comes to shove, as it definitely will, in no distant future the Nigerian public should accordingly blame the Federal Government for its insincerity and inability to manage all members of the health care team.

UGONSA CHAIRMAN OYO STATE.
