For the world to be free of social vices and criminality, Nigerians have been advised to always show love and care to the less privileged in the society.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that social disparity between the rich and the poor was largely responsible for social violence in the country.

Abimbola spoke at a ramadan lecture organised by the Consolidated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun state council on the theme : "Insecurity and poverty in Nigeria: Islamic solution".

He said until the rich class stops discriminating against the poor, there will be increase in criminal activities in the country.

He noted that "75% of criminals are either from broken home or irresponsible parents; we breed criminals from the family".

The police spokesperson equally attributed that fake life on social media influenced many Nigerian youth to involve themselves in social menace.

"Many youth get involved in criminal activities when they see what their mates are doing or using on social media whereas they are not the owner. They get jealous hereby involving themselves in criminal activities " he added.

He therefore enjoined philanthropists in the society to give charity to orphanage in the country.

He also urged every individual in the society to render assistance to the less privileged saying "if we fail to assist the less privileged we will face the consequences.

"We should try as much as possible to see what we can do to the less privileged around us, if we fail to assist people who are in need we are breeding criminals" he concluded.
