You really think that MTN , Glo and NCC will make this succeed ? Forget it Sir

The market is already segmegated. Telcos offer mobile broadband service while SpaceX is offering fixed broadband.
Though the telcos have the edge of also offering fixed services thereby competing in that market, it's not their core.
Moreover running both services on one infrastructure tends to be a stain on the telcos available bandwidth. SpaceX will do a better job with fixed services

If anyone has taken their time to research on NIGCOMSAT, he or she should be able to confirm that Nigeria has a big problem centered around wastages or unnecessary spendings. The poor maintenance culture adds to the problems.

Nigeria has a satellite in the orbits called NIGCOMSAT-1. Im sure not many know Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world privileged to achieve that feat. It was sent into space in 2006 and its not being used for anything as of yet. It was just sent there and forgotten about.

Its capabilities include what SpaceX is trying to sell to us now because they maintain and utilize their satellites while we sent ours there for prowess and its still there in space gathering dust.

Thats a potential means of employment for many and source of revenue for the government. This falls under the ministry of communications.

I guess this ministry doesn't know Nigeria already invested billions in this project already and doesn't know how to translate the investment into revenue.

If I'm going to host an online gaming service that requires low latency, Augmented reality application, I'll go with Space X. Though, cost might be prohibitive on the short run, cost will definitely go down in the future

So that justifies the lack of electricity in a country like nigeria? So how are the users of Elon musks enternet going to power their laptops and mobile devices? undecided

Bobo, anyone that can afford 200k to buy the modem and also pay 50k monthly for the service won't have the headache of electricity.
Not every Nigerians 'think' of light issues. Okay.

Moreso, unlike telecom masts everywhere that require large generators, fuel, inverters, land, security, SpaceX satellites uses solar. Shikena.

One thing I know about tech innovation is that hardware will always get smaller, faster and better. StarLink is already planning to bring this internet to cars (including Teslas), ocean vehicles and moving targets.
Nothing will stop them from making a portable rechargeable mifi that can connect to their satellite directly.
After all, we have made satellite phones since the days of Thuraya.

Anything that made Elon suddenly create a cool flame thrower that sold out immediately can make him create anything business-wise.

I see him coming into Nigeria and disrupt at least 3 industries with innovation and quality alternatives.
Nigerians will see his stuff as a new way of showing 'class' and we'll pay for it no matter the cost.

This is great news

But I have a feeling that ncc under Osama bin pantami and this useless administration will fraustrate SpaceX after collecting money from the useless big 4 communication companies.
Nonsense comment from unexposed ethno-religious bigot. U need to wake up beyond religious bigotry and shun all those conspiracy feed to ur head to control ur mental reasoning.
NCC is headed by one of the finest Telecommunication Engineering professors in Nigeria, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta with great record of practical and academic reputation at University of Manchester and Bayero University Kano, gotten his professorship at University of Manchester.
None of the past head of NCC who were all ur kinsmen has ever performed to the level of Danbatta in the agency and non of the past ministers performed at the level of Pantami.
You didn't know when they invited Elon Musk to come and play his role in Nigeria's Telecommunication industry but u're in hurry to allege sabotage, what a shame!
When useless Twitter decided to have their headquarters at Ghana u accused FG but when this extraordinary real investment is brought by the same govt u deviate to crappy comments.

There is no doubt that this is a very good initiative, however, we can't help but wonder if Nigerians can get on board with the product. Seeing as the current subscription price is more than what an average Nigerian spends per month on data. It costs $99 (₦40,000) for the monthly subscription and $499 (₦200,000) for the Starlink kit.

But since your stupidity and bigotry is out of this world, nd cos you see everything in the lense of tribalism, you had to come and spew nonsense.
