...says there is fear of the ‘unknown’ in the country

The Ogun State League of Imams and Alfas while felicitating with the Muslim faithfuls for the Eid-l-fitri festivals, on Thursday, warned citizens to be more security conscious as there is fear of the UNKNOWN in the country.

In the congratulatory message signed by Secretary General, League of Imams and Alfas, Ogun State, Imam Tajudeen Adewumi, made available to Platform Times, called out to Muslims and all as the menace of blood spilling spread across the country.

In the message, Imam Tajudeen reiterated that the people are afraid going by their daily activities.

Furthermore, he urged the government to make security their priority.

Also, he urged Muslims to pray piously for the country.

The message reads in part:“The League felicitates with all muslims on the occasion of this year's Eid-l-Fitri, praying Allah for continued protection, guidance and abundant provision for us as an Ummah and as a nation.

“As a nation, INSECURITY has become a very serious issue and is taking a big toll on us from all angles- human, material, economic, agricultural etc.

“There is the fear of the UNKNOWN as we go about our various activities and enterprises.

“People are generally becoming afraid to stay in or leave their homes.

“We urge our leaders, especially the commander-in-chief of the nations security apparel to please work further hard and faster to uproot the menace of banditry, kidnapping, extra judicial killings, widespread raping of innocent girls and women, and all other vices.

“The league advises muslims and all to be more security conscious, avoid unnecessary night travels and to make their movements known to their families.

“Muslims should remember to always make the morning and evening adhkaar, as well as other prayers for protection and safety.

“Let us all continue to pray for our leaders for divine wisdom and guidance as they lead us on”.

Imam Tajudeen however preached to the leaders to be upright in performing their duties.

“The League admonishes the occupants of various seats of governments at all levels in Nigeria to recall and live up to the promises made to the populace.

“Nigerians desire and deserve affordable access to the minimum quality of life and living.

“Good governance can be characterised by justice, fairness, equality and equity in the running of government.

“May Almighty Allah grant our leaders at all levels, the wisdom and guidance needed for successful administration to the joy of man and the glory of the Almighty”, the Imam prayed.

He further reminded Muslims of the essence of fasting, and prayed for more to be witness on earth.

“The prescribed 30 days of fasting was like a workshop, seminar or conference to gear Muslims righteously forward for onward engagement with the society.

“At the end of the exercise, the acquired ‘knowledge and skills’ should be made to bear positively to the benefit of the society.

“We implore Muslims to pay proper attention to the family, to take care of the wives and children, ensure good nutrition, health and education- (Islamic and western for the children) as well as being models for good conduct and behaviour.

“Let us remember to avail ourselves of the abundant reward accruable to the 6 days of fasting in the month of Shawwal.

“We beseech Allah for the forgiveness of our sins as individuals and a nation, His protection and guidance in the means and ways of our lives, firmness of faith in Him as our Lord, abundant halal provision for comfortable living, acceptance of our efforts as iba’dah and al jannah as our abode in the hereafter.

“May Allah heal our land and the world, bless and prosper our nation, bless our leaders with guidance and perfect His favor upon us as an ummah and as a nation. Aamina.

“May we witness more of the blessed month of Ramadan in our lives to earn more of His grace”, the Imam prayed.
