It was carved out after 1948.Same way other biblical locations are in the countries surrounding it like Ur in present day Iraq.If after Israel was made a state they decided to call it Zion or Judea as they initially intended to call it before agreeing to call it Israel what would you have said?The name Israel is what triggers this sentiment they were smart in giving it that name hence the blind loyalty or support some of them get.
