The suspension was contained in a three-paragraph letter to that effect sent to wakilin Birni by the Emirate council, with reference number BEC/ADM/20/VOL.X dated May 16, 2021, and signed by Nasiru Musa Maidala for Secretary of the Emirate.

The letter which was written in Hausa, said the suspension became necessary considering some “unbecoming behaviour” of the lawmaker which amounted to disrespect to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, District and village heads as well as other traditional title holders in the Emirate.

The letter specifically made reference to a situation that happened at the Government House on Sunday during the annual Sallah Hawan Daushe held to pay homage to the governor by the Emir of Bauchi and all the traditional rulers in the Emirate.

They love to create a misleading headline that will get people talking, a sensational headline that will lead to clicks and people buying their paper and then give them an opportunity to get more clicks and sales when the correct situation is revealed.


The story says that the emir suspended the person. The story also says that the person is the member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, however, the story did not say that he was suspended from the House of Representatives.

You see, you cannot accuse the paper of lying, because they never said that he was suspended from the House of Representatives.


However, the goal of the newspaper is to fool people into believing that he was suspended from the House of Representatives (this is Nigeria where people don't verify stories or question headlines).


That member also holds the traditional chieftaincy title of Wakilin Birnin Bauchi and he was suspended from being a chief. He was not suspended from the House of Representatives.

He was suspended because all chiefs are required to remove their royal robes when they are in close physical proximity to the Emir, but he wore his chief's robes in the emir's presence during the Durbar to mark the Eid celebration.

It's not even the newspaper's fault. The person that created this thread deliberately omitted the part of the story that said that he was suspended as a chief. Click the link and read the full story and you'll see what the OP did.
