DATHAN, KORAH AND ABIRAM: THE DANGERS OF REBELLIOUS AMBITION

In the camp of Israel rose individuals whose desire for power and priestly privilege led them to rebel against the constituted authority of God. They also went as far as stirring up the people to join their ungodly undertaking against God's chosen ones.

In the end, their judgement came swiftly as they had by their actions and unrepentant behaviour (Numbers 16:12) incurred the wrath of God against themselves.

This was the mindset of King Jehoshaphat; the enemies were loud and before him, but he rather chose to look ahead to the fulfilment of God's mighty works and gave praise to God in advance for the victory (2 Chronicles 20:22).

In our scripture for meditation, we can see Paul making reference to Demas who had departed from the faith having heeded to the seducing spirits of the world and chose the things of the material over the glory of the eternal.

Remain steadfast and commit your heart to the things of God; there is a glory that surpasses the understanding of all men which this world cannot give us - but it is found only in God. Many people today let themselves be coerced into forsaking the revealed knowledge of the truth that God has put in their heart through the word of God and testimonies of saints - the littlest perception of inconvenience or being unpopular is all that it takes to have them go contrary to the will of God. There is only one truth - and in this truth we have freedom

"And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." This line from 2 Timothy 4:4 is commonplace in the present generation. Majority of people even professed believers of God do not seem to accept that there is only ONE Truth - and Jesus is the truth.

Whether in worship or in social interactions, we cannot replace the truth with convenient assumptions, or falsehood that seems to sit well with our ungodly desires. We are damned if we do not accept the truth. The truth matters in our salvation and life in Christ.

It is not just enough to be curious about the knowledge of your faith; but you should sincerely inquire to know the TRUTH on which your beliefs are rooted. A sincere inquirer of the truth will find the unchanged texts of the scripture as a great resource - Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6); the Word of God is the Truth (John 17:17); the Law of God is the Truth (Psalm 119:142).

You need the knowledge of the truth on the journey of your faith to stand firm in any situation.

Truth Matters: The will of man cannot override the directives of God

In 1 Kings 13, we read a story of a prophet who strayed from his stand on the truth by the deceit of another prophet. You may wonder, "but he's a prophet, why should he disobey the prophet".

This is the place where the spirit of discernment comes in. When God reveals an instruction to you, He expects that you stay on course to the end, and in your faithfulness, the spirit of contradiction may raise up agents of falsehood to knock you off the path of truth, but you must resist every contrary opinion and press on to the finish line!

"Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in."

Holy Discontentment - Surrendering the old life and working in harmony with God

This very act opened up a covenant of grace for her that saved her household and earned her a place in the Hall of Faith.
