What is "Selah" used in the book of Psalms? As seen in Psalm 9:20

Since the Psalms are practically a collection of songs, then, 'Selah' could mean a direction/instruction of sorts to the musicians singing/performing them to observe a 'pause'.


Asked a priest once and he was of the opinion that such pauses might have been accompanied by loud blasts of musical instruments such as horns and percussions(drums and things like that). Sort of like an interlude.

But at the end of the day, different folks have different explanations as to what Selah actually means.
