The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has kicked against the recent adoption of the Oodua Anthem in public schools by the Ondo State government.

NEF faulted Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for taking such decision, adding such introduction was “a very serious assault on the integrity of Nigeria.”

Governor Akeredolu’s administration had in a circular dated May 6 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the State Teaching Service Commission, Tolu Adeyemi, made it mandatory for students in public schools to recite the anthem in all functions in public secondary schools across the state.

The Governor had also warned that the anthem, which is now being used by Oduduwa Republic agitators was approved for the public schools in state and not for any secession agenda.

However, in the statement signed by the NEF Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the group condemned the move, insisting that it would further alienate sections of the Nigerian society.

“If this is true, it represents a very serious assault on the integrity of the country by people who have sworn to uphold and protect it,” the group said.

“There’s only one anthem our children should sing and recognize. If there are other symbols with cultural significance they should be made to identify with, it should not be elevated to the level of a national anthem, or even supersede it.

“If the federal government is on its toes protecting the boundaries of our unity and national integrity, it would challenge this in court.”

Northern fools rather. Some stupid statements from the so called northern elders can't even be made by creche kids who are asleep. Insurgency in the north doesn't bother them, but an unharmful Oduduwa anthem in Ondo is their pain. If I am Akeredolu I will ask schools to provide microphones for the kids to sing the anthem more loudly & repeat the anthem chorus as many times as possible.

Anthem does not harm anyone.
I will support you when you get rid of religious laws being used to oppress others.

Now I can relate with the fact that these Northerners actually fear the break up of Nigeria. Whether now or later, it's heading for breakup. Southern Nigeria and northern Nigeria have different ideologies and ways of life. As if it ends there, think about the tribalism, nepotism, religion and corruption that are forever gonna drag this geographical location, called Nigeria, to its doom.

Kicking against it as what? How does it concern them? When they introduced sharia nd hisbah in the north, did southern governors kick?

I really do not blame these backward northerners, the people I blame are d southern politicians and elites who kiss their dirty feet nd make dem feel special for monies nd positions which are originally der birthright...but dey are ignorant of the fact. Instead of taking a stand, dey allow dese parasites who contribute absolutely nothing to d Nigerian economy control nd give dem peanuts from their inheritance, to kill der fellow southerners. It's so pitiful.

They should come and stop it if they are man enough.

The killing in their region is not a concern to them,

Over 100people killed in Benue yesterday, that is not their problem,

Kidnapping, boko haram, bandits have finished them, it is not headache to them

Their problem is what ondo people choose to sing in their public school.

Instead of them speaking to media about it, why didn't they park themselves like sardin to ondo to start going to each school to stop them. Idiots.

What a race. Spit.

While it is not a crime for Hishbah to be harassing some businesses up north in the name of sharia.

There must be a mystery behind why the northern elites always popnose into every details and agenda of the progressive south most especially the South West.

They are always kicking against what others do which doesn’t even affect them directly lol. These people see others as their slaves, that’s why they complain if others do something for themselves. What has anthem got to do with anything?
I am baffled that Yorubas are supporting this crazy one Nigeria nonsense .
