The oath is real, they call it "dedication" which is a special vow you make to "Jehovah" to remain loyal to their governing body, you are expected to keep up with your vow forever, failure to do that will result to shunning which includes ostracizing you and even your family will not eat from same plate with you.

I have seen that happen many times.

That's why @op will go the extra mile in claiming "dedication" is mandatory to gain salvation, something not thought or mentioned anywhere in the bible!

That is serious.

Whilst there's nothing wrong in submitting to those God has appointed as leaders, in fact, we are instructed to submit to them (Hebrews 13:17), we are not told that such submission is accompanied by an oath, neither is it a requirement from God.

Perhaps the oath thing explains why people like the Op will go into abyss defending and affirming lies and falsehood, not minding what the scripture or God is actually saying. If an oath is taken to obey the so-called governing body, then heeding instructions such as 1 Thessalonians 5:21 becomes impossible. I mean how can one PROVE conscientiously what the governing body is teaching when you're under oath to remain loyal? Even if one were to prove and find anything contrary to God, but for the blind oath, such a person is technically silenced and kept under chained.

Initially I thought MaxInDHouse's lies and falsehood were products of indoctrination, ignorance and pride. But now, I think there's a new perspective to it.

Your yes equally requires you to follow directions that are not STRATEGIC or made sense from human standpoint should you value your SALVATION. Hence you see articles with CAPTION e.g PUT FAITH IN A VISIBLE ORGANIZATION. By now you should understand the visible part of the ORGANIZATION every member must rest their faith upon.

Incredible.

You will need to check the second baptismal question of that religious organization to see how the organization goes about its operation. In their study aid you have a chapter that states your dedication and baptism is not to an ORGANIZATION. But below is the second baptismal question

Do you understand that your baptism identifies you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with Jehovah’s organization.

Your yes to this question is key as anyone that states clearly that he does not want to be a member of that religious organization under the spotlight here but will readily study with them in the eyes of the ORGANIZATION is a waste of time by those conducting those studies.

Your yes equally requires you to follow directions that are not STRATEGIC or made sense from human standpoint should you value your SALVATION. Take note that my response to your comment is only because you just came across misleading information so to help you out of that mire of confusion, I’m responding to this otherwise I couldn’t care less what the other noisemakers have put up there. Also, I find it really absurd that people who aren’t Witnesses should be able to explain clearly what “dedication” is better than those who are the real Witnesses.

Yes, before a person becomes one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he undergoes Bible study in order to take in and assimilate knowledge of Jehovah and his Son, Jesus(John 17:3), make the needed adjustments to his life style(Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:22-24), repents of his sins(Acts 3:19), exercises faith in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus(John 3:16, Hebrews 9:14-15) and then he makes a vow to Jehovah God to do his will(Psalm 40:8.) before getting baptized(1Peter 3:21) Also there are a number of things that Jehovah requires of us when he dedicate ourselves to him(Exodus 34:14, Deuteronomy 6:5, 10:12) so he takes our vows to serve him forever very seriously. Ecclesiastes 5:4

So contrary to what some have said, we are constantly reminded that we dedicate ourselves, not to any human or organization, but to Jehovah God himself and no one else.
Jesus himself while he was on earth dedicated his entire life to service of his Father, why can we say this? Because at John 4:34, he made a statement that sort of mirrors Psalm 40:8 that I earlier quoted where Jesus said: “My food is to do the will of him(Jehovah) who sent me” so Jehovah’s Witnesses today are also following in Jesus’ footsteps(1Peter 2:21) by dedicating our lives to serve Jehovah and being Jesus’ disciples. Matthew 16:24

This is hilarious! cheesy
So it's dedication to my God that's the next thing to argue about, shey?
Well for the benefit of interested followers of this particular thread, my dedication to the God who chose Jesus and the Governing Body of JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES is what nullifies the fake oath i took to be faithful, loyal and honest to the politicians ruling the country i live.

I'm an ex soldier so i know what it means to take a oath and failed to live up to it. If anyone should pledge allegiance to his/her country he must do whatever it takes to keep his/her oath even if it means putting one's life on the line.
That's why soldiers often look down on civilians because it's the same oath they took that's given to the citizens whenever you're reciting the National Anthem or the Pledge.

That's why JWs don't join in the Anthem or Pledge because you're to remain faithful, loyal and honest to whatever decision those ruling you makes. All the forces knew this that's why they'll prefer to die upholding the sovereignty of their government even when it means extermination of an entire race.

So when i weighed both sides i chose to dedicate my life to the God of the Governing Body of JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES who made me see all people as my neighbours that i must love as myself, no human government can give me orders to hate my fellowman again, the worst i can do is shun whoever does what is unbearable but for me to pick up weapons and kill people due to an oath is unthinkable for me now!

Jehovah's Witnesses, may God continue to bless you guys for locating me! smiley

Until that person decides to say I want to become a Jehovah's witnesses that person will never be baptized by this organization. It is as simple as that. In fact studying the scriptures with those who say they won't join the organization in the eyes of the org is waste of time.

There is nothing like you are baptized by us but you don't have to be called a Jehovah's witness. It is you are baptized by us and you will be called a Jehovah's witness. Our policies and procedures you must follow. Should you choose to resign from this organization it as good as a disfellowshipped person and by extension you have left GOD by that action of yours.

Someone coming to say others are noisemakers is to colour the situation. Anyone that leaves the organization is seen and viewed as leaving God. So how will someone come and explain and say your baptism in that organization is not equal to an oath of allegiance to the men leading the organization.

Leaving the organization is leaving God in the eyes of the organization but you know the WTBTS is never called God's organization in the scriptures. That they can never prove from the scriptures.

Thank you for coming. Appreciated.

I’m responding to this otherwise I couldn’t care less what the other noisemakers have put up there. Also, I find it really absurd that people who aren’t Witnesses should be able to explain clearly what “dedication” is better than those who are the real Witnesses.

Falseprophet claimed years of experience as one, and no one can take his experience from him.

DappaD:

Your list is fine except the bold text. All throughout scripture, we see on numerous occasions where God ratified a matter with an oath. For example, the promise He made on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 50:24). Bounding himself through oath means the matter is irrevocable, and of course, He will always keep His promises. After all, He is God and not a man.

Now, on the individual angle, oaths were employed in judicial matters, to ratified an alliance or a friendship, to sealed one's utterance etc. Let's look at two notable vows in the bible for example: the case of Hannah and Jephthah (1 Samuel 1:11, Judges 11:30-40). We see that whilst Hannah's vow did went well, Jephthah wasn't so lucky, as he paid for it dearly. Also worthy of note in this two cases is that, they were personal vows devoid of group sanctioned or a religious body.

Furthermore, an oath or vow is a very serious matter, as shown in scriptural examples. Whoever make a vow must make sure to keep such vow because God will not hold him guiltless who reneges (Deuteronomy 23:21, 23, Numbers 30:2-16, Ecclesiastes 5:4-6). To those who reneges, it is akin to taking the Lord's name in vain and this violates the 3rd commandment (Leviticus 19:12, Exodus 20:7). And no wonder Jesus said this:
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King, Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. (Matthew 5:34-37)

So, an oath or vow of any kind, whether to God (who is in heaven) or anything else is totally uncalled for and needless. Besides, being in the service of God or doing His will is already a dedication on its own. One has already answered in the affirmative (Yes) before embarking on the journey. So again, a special vow is simply a needless yoke; a burden.

DappaD:

So contrary to what some have said, we are constantly reminded that we dedicate ourselves, not to any human or organization, but to Jehovah God himself and no one else.

I understand you perfectly, or should I say, the zeal. But then, one does not need a vow to act as a reminder or to show how committed we are to God. Working under an oath or vow is like working under a self inflicted duress. True worshippers must worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). Anything else is overzealousness.

DappaD:

Jesus himself while he was on earth dedicated his entire life to service of his Father, why can we say this? Because at John 4:34, he made a statement that sort of mirrors Psalm 40:8 that I earlier quoted where Jesus said: “My food is to do the will of him(Jehovah) who sent me” so Jehovah’s Witnesses today are also following in Jesus’ footsteps(1Peter 2:21) by dedicating our lives to serve Jehovah and being Jesus’ disciples. Matthew 16:24

There's absolutely nothing wrong in living a life of dedication to God. In fact, a true Christian or worshiper is dedicated by default, hence, no need of a special vow to some sort of activate that dedication. That is the point.

All the same, thank you for your time once again. I must also say (this is no flattery) that you were able to pass your message across without needless insults and excessive clownish displays like MaxInDHouse and others would do. Perhaps, just perhaps they'd learn one or two things from you.

Many thanks.

No wonder when a member resigns or disassociate from the ORG such member is no longer seen as serving God since is dedication is to men who decide whether he serves God or not. The reason such men and you can state they are on the road to destruction or will go up in smoke.

Bros, your Bible answered your questions, so continue DECEIVING yourself.
John 17:6-7 "Father, they have come to know that all the things you gave me are yours"
Acts 15:14 "God chosen people to bear His name".
Achorladey, According to your Bible, Acts 15:14 & John 17:6-7, who owns Jehovah's Organization of believers?
grin

Achorladey equates WTBTS to God, that's how DUBIOUS he has been..

It remains dubious only when you answer that simple question. Who owns WTBTS?

Satan/Jehovah

whom at law does WTBTS represent?

Satans organization/jehovahs organization

the name aspect you simply cannot tell us how Jesus call am even during his final hours on earth.

Give to Ceasar his due & give to God what belongs to God.

NLT Genesis 16:7
The angel of the LORD found Hagar beside a spring of water in the wilderness, along the road to Shur.
What does Genesis 16:7 mean?
John Gill's Exposition of the Bible
Genesis 16:7
And the angel of the Lord found her
This is the first time that mention is made of an angel in Scripture, but is not to be understood of a created angel, but of a divine Person, as appears from ( Genesis 16:10 Genesis 16:13 ) , the uncreated angel, the Logos or Son of God, called the Angel of God's presence, and the Angel of the covenant, ( Isaiah 63:9 ) ( Malachi 3:1 ) ; who often appeared in an human form before his incarnation, being sent by his divine Father on one account or another; and hence called an angel, a messenger, or one sent, as in the fulness of time he was sent in human nature to be the Redeemer of his people; though many of the Jewish writers take this angel to be a man sent of God. Bros, JWs don't make oath to any mortal, our dedication is to Jehovah (in accord with the Israelites @ Exodus 24:7, Romans 15:4) & His Son Jesus Christ @ John 17:5-6,21-23.

You can tell yourself that your dedication is to God but we both know God didn't require that as a means of salvation, it is a requirement to become member of JWs organization.

That is why when a member resigns or go to another church you all see the person as apostate.

Words like apostates, unbelievers, infidels etc have brought more harm than good to mankind, it has been a vehicle for hate, extremism and division which have led to chaos all over the world.

Religion and faith is supposed to make us good, bring love and tolerance among us but unfortunately JWs, Muslims, pentecostals, Roman Catholics etc have employed words that divides themselves.

I still come in peace!
