Twitter Ban In Nigeria by VGSocial: 2:45pm On Jun 09, 2021
The Nigerian Government suspended Twitter after the President's tweet got deleted for violating the platform's terms.

The actions of the Nigerian Government has been met with mixed reactions from Nigerians. On one hand, there are those backing the FG's claim that Twitter "is a threat to Nigeria's Corporate existence", on the other hand, are those questioning the legality of the actions of the Federal Government.

According to a report by Paradigm Initiative (PIN), Nigeria has lost over N2,177,089,051($6,014,390) of revenue in the aftermath of the ban and continues to lose N90,712,044 ($250,600) every hour! The Telecommunication industry has experienced a dip in data revenue as Twitter is one of the most used platforms in Nigeria. Twitter influencers, brands, small and big scale businesses have also suffered losses.

The Nigerian Government can regulate whatever factors, internal or external that may infringe or question "the Corporate existence" of Nigeria, but should this be done to the extent of harming the livelihood of its own citizens?
