Plateau Or Gombe State? by lagusboyyy(m): 5:09pm On Jun 12, 2021 |
I'm a graduate from one of the south west university in Nigeria, and i spend all my life in Lagos state , and also a yoruba guy from Lagos State. But due to the rising and unavailability of good jobs around, i have been thinking of moving over to the North for greener pasture, i want to leave my comfort zone. So, two states are on my mind, plateau state or gombe. I really want input of individuals on this issues: Cost of living Availability of jobs Security Acceptability of strangers, and many more. Which state do you guys think is ok, I'm really in need of a good job. I will really appreciate this topic to be in frontpage so as to reach wider audience. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

Firstly, I must commend on your courage, it's a good one. I have never been to Gombe state before so let me leave that. However, I have spent quite some years here in plateau State so let me share my experience with you. 1. Security: Yes no place is safe and secure in Nigeria but let me not generalize. Plateau State is not entirely safe and dangerous. Some areas are red zones while some are green zones. This becomes a reality due to religious conflict in the state. We have Hausa/Muslims dominated areas while we also have christians/indegenes/d Igbos/Yorubas/(others) areas. Despite all this religious and ethnic division, both christians, Muslims, hausa, Igbo, Yorubas and even indegenes do converge together to do business in places like Terminus market, bukuru market e.t.c. These are the business areas that accommodate all and sundry. But when fight breaks out, everybody will run to his or her green zone. Plateau State security is a bit fragile. Food: This is simple. Food is cheap here in Jos but not very cheap. M sure as a young chap, you can eat good food even with little amount. Accommodation: Accommodation too is relatively cheap. I will leave this for others to highlight. 101 Likes 6 Shares |

The states you mentioned, are dominated by civil servants. Business only trives, when salary is paid. Secondly, there are less factories and private establishments. Unless you wish to go into teaching, but the pay is less, though cost of living is low. Why not choose Lagos? 38 Likes 5 Shares |

all the best bro, remember North security is fragile for me if it comes to it, as a total stranger I'll rather go to the east than North 16 Likes 1 Share |

1. The grass is greener where you water it. 2. If you must leave your comfort-zone, leave it for a better place. Don't migrate North for now. 3. If you are from Lagos State (likely living rent-free in Lagos), you don't know what God has done for you. Shalom! 37 Likes 2 Shares |

There's nothing green in terrorist control territory, all you'll see there is red, Secondly if you're claims are true, stay in Lagos and hustle, tips to make it in Lagos, avoid lowlife individuals, avoid sachet drinks, learn how to tolerate insult even if your parents are abused forget about northern Nigeria if you could but if your mind is made up,I wish you the best...But consider bro. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

So let me get this straight...your enemies, which includes Nigerian politicians frustrated you to the extent that you want to find your way to the lion's den to look for food? You might as well just join the Nigerian Army. But if you really have lost all hope of making it in the South, you might as well find your way outta the country thru whatever means necessary. Although nowhere seem to be totally safe in Nigeria these days, but with the current uncertainty hovering over Nigeria right now, the safest bet is to be among your own people or get out of that country. Well, God might be the one leading you there to prosper...what do I know? All the best 23 Likes 1 Share |

Why will somebody leaves the entire south that contributes nearly 80% of the country's GDP and wants to move north? Life na per head sha. I lived in Plataeu for one year. I moved from Jos to Magu to Panshin to Shendam etc. Plateau is as barren a land as Somalia. Most bank staff were employed from south and transfered there. The commonest job is school teacher. Insecurity has made farming unattractive. Jos always experience major crisis that takes tens, sometimes hundreds of lives at least once in five years. Jos South and Jos north are natural enemy. Berom people (the owner of Jos) are always slaughtered by Fulanis. Shendam is not exempted from violence. There was major carnage in Yelwa some years ago (that is the place Pantamj was recorded saying he would send jihadists to to slaughter people) . It is still brewing. Magu, Panshin, Jos, the cold in these places could take your life if you have health problems or are not used to extreme weather change. Cost of living is relatively low. I saw a 2-bedroom flat in Shendam for 50k. Goats, yams are very cheap. You can buy and come and sell down south. THERE IS NO FROZEN FOOD THE ENTIRE SHENDAM LG. likewise many other LG. you could look into such business. No difference between indigenous Plataeu and Southerners. They love flexing like us. Note: indigenes Plateau people are peaceful and reasonable people. If you like flexing, don't relocate to core north. There Sharia is a problem. Your neighbor might be spying on you, the day trouble starts, you will be first he would come for. I went to Kano, as relatively "civilized" as Kano is, I had problem. To enter keke with the opposite sex na wahala. Imagine for a moment places like Zamfara. 50 Likes 2 Shares |
