Isiala Ngwa Establish Security Outfit, Vote N68m For Logistics

Isiala Ngwa communities in Abia State have established a security outfit named Isiala Ngwa Security Network (INSN).

This was disclosed yesterday during a meeting between House of Representatives member, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, and his Isiala Ngwa North state constituency counterpart, Chief Ginger Onwusibe.

The event, which was held at the Sam Amalaha Mini Stadium, Amapu Ntigha, also featured the distribution by the duo of 2000 bags of fertilisers presented to constituent members to boost farming.

According to the modus operandi of the INSN, all the autonomous communities in the state’s federal constituency and the two state constituencies are to establish a vigilance group each that would be affiliated to the parent INSN body.
The INSN central organ, which would comprise mainly of retired police, army and Civil Defence officers, would be recruited from men and women in different vigilance groups in the area.

Ten persons are to be recruited from each ward to bring the total number of operatives to 2000.

Already, N68 million has been voted for logistics that include uniforms, boots, belts, torches, caps, knives, whistles, and six Hilux patrol vans (two each) for the police, army and local security service. Also included are 40 motorcycles and mini buses, radio and cameras, and cost of training personnel and sensitisation of the communities on security.

Addressing the meeting, Onwusibe said the lawmakers are committed to discharging their constitutional mandates, even as he urged the constituents to strive towards producing a governor from the area in the 2023 elections.

“Protecting our Isiala Ngwa territory is a task which must be done,” he added.
