Joseph the son of Jacob is the only person to be buried in a coffin. The Bible gives a record of Joseph’s life in the book of Genesis. Majority of the people who died in the Bible were mostly buried in caves or tombs.

The book of Genesis Chapter 50:26 gives details of how Joseph was buried, the verse goes ahead to provide the number of years that the son of Jacob lived on earth. According to the verse in Genesis, Joseph lived 110 years before he met his death and he was buried in Egypt.

You may have probably read the whole bible but you may not come across a verse in the bible where someone is buried in a coffin apart from Joseph’s death, however, coffin is mentioned in the Bible in several verses. The verse that talks about Joseph’s death is the last verse of the book of Genesis.
