A high school teacher in Alabama accused of raping two of her underage students has killed herself after arrest.

Leslie Gillespie, a 44-year-old teacher at the RA Hubbard High School in North Courtland, was found dead at her Lawrence County home just two days after she was arrested on rape and sodomy charges.

Police in Hillsboro, a small town in Lawrence County found Gillespie dead from what "appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," said coroner Scott Norwood.

Gillespie, an English teacher at the high school, was arrested on felony charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, and engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19.

The students were 15 and 16 at the time of the alleged incidents.

Gillespie was released on $60,000 bond. She shot herself as soon as she went back home.
