The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has adopted a new road map to launch “Eco”, its proposed single currency, to 2027.

In an interview with journalists where this development was disclosed, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, the president of the ECOWAS Commission, said the heads of ECOWAS member states agreed with the new road map at the 59th ordinary session in Accra, Ghana.

“Due to the shock of the pandemic, the heads of state had decided to suspend the implementation of the convergence pact in 2020-2021, Brou said.
