hello house, im aware that there are lots of conditions attached to uk commonwealth scholarship. The one of concern to me is that scholars must return to home country on completion of study. I would like to knw if there is a way one can remain in the uk. Contributn from current and past scholars will be highly appreciated.

The new rules will make return very much stricter with no work period.
Only highly qualified people who obtain a job placement with Uk firm will be able to stay.
UK is stopping poorly qualified students from working in meanial jobs just to remain.

That is not entirely true, work placement is just for undergraduates which is part of their degree, u don't really get paid for that, mostly 3-6months program b4 ur finaly yr. Whether poorly or higly qualified, foreign students are not allowed to work for 2yrs again unlike b4. Getting a full time job with student visa to join Tier 2 work program after graduation is almost imposible

Hey thanks for that quick response Rubenic,
Was also wondering what the criteria the Federal Scholarship Board use in nominating individuals? What do they look out for and what are the eligibility requirements, thanks

The least anyone who has enjoyed commonwealth scholarship can do is to return back to your country, and use the skills you gained overseas for the benefit and development of your own country. It is fair that the law stipulates that such persons are not eligible to extend their stay overseas, they should all go home! The majority of Nigerian students studying/who studied overseas worked their socks off in dead end jobs to pay off their tuition and accommodation bills, these ones fully deserve to stay back overseas to find work that will help them to recoup some part of their investments.
