We see that infidelity and sexual promiscuity has escalated since we replaced our own traditional culture with western culture , especially as it pertains to marriage and sexual relations. Since then, sexual perversion has multiplied and cascaded into the minds of even young children. The result is an exponential rise in infidelity and number of singles past the age of marriage.

Typically, on a wedding day the lady would have slept with over 10 partners and had at least 2 abortions while the man will not be far behind in the numbers game. I put it to Nairalanders that there are only 15% virgins in Nigeria, and they are 99.5% located in the North of the country. This is because while the North does have a large amount of paedophilia and sexual promiscuity, they still to a certain extent retain some traditional elements in their culture, and promiscuity can carry a death sentence.

To find a virgin in Southern Nigeria is like looking for a pin in a haystack. Look at how many beautiful girls and handsome men we have not married, no kids, perhaps may not ever marry. Now, I am not saying marriage is the be-all and end-all, after all marriage is not meant for everybody. But for those who want to marry you need some advice.

Here are a few solutions to encourage marriage and reduce infidelity in marriage ;

1. Stop watching Pornography - I raise my hands as guilty here though I hardly watch it anymore and when I did watch it frequently, it wasn’t the type that you see today. In fact, the porn of today is truly evil, wicked, and abhorrent. It turns the bodies of human beings and our women into that of ordinary ‘meat’ to be lusted after, used, abused, and dumped and maybe paid at the end of it. It is very horrendous, just stop it. If you feel tempted masturbate, that will cure your stress. Pornography will mess up your mind and turn sex into an exercise of self-gratification and not love.

2. Parental upbringing; If parents do not teach their children the importance of contentment when they are younger, the children will grow up into greedy and materialistic men and women. Parents must also gently and wisely guide their children from childhood through puberty and into adulthood. Teach them right from wrong and rest is up to them.

3. Marry early; It is better to marry than to burn with lust day in day out. In the old days of our progenitors, marriage was from age 16/18 to 20 at the worst, though currently I recommend 19-25 for women and 25 to 35 for men. For women, your body clock is ticking fast and while you are ranting on about career, by the time you have children in your mid to late 30s your mates are planning to enjoy their life. Early marriage can absorb the hormonal burst by many young adults ; they can also still have a career.

4. You don’t have to be rich to marry early, for goodness sake. Start small and grow. If the woman you want to marry cannot wait because you are poor, forget about it, she will not last in a marriage, she is a burden and a potential cheat.

5. Stop listening to all these randy pastors and their hypocrite counterparts who insist you must pray forever to find the right partner and they must be consulted before the marriage goes ahead. Trash. They are not your lord and master. Marriage is between two couples and they ONLY with their families must make the decision for the marriage to go ahead.

6. Reintroduce polygamy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Polygamy. If you can afford two or three wives or even four and you have the money, land and property/properties, why not ? Its traditionally legal and accepted and this is original African tradition. When we had polygamy the cases of people sleeping around, and high number of unmarried women were unheard of.

6. Bride price - Bride price has to be reduced to a token or let the man out of his good heart give what he can. If he loves her, he will give her his all. Abolish or reduce the traditional marriage lists, you are not selling a human being. If you want to marry you better cut out the crap of high bride price and unnecessary expenses otherwise you may remain unmarried for life.

7. Wives should never use sex as a weapon on her man, especially a man in a very stressful job, he will cheat period. Abstinence is great for a period, but when prolonged you will be the loser not him.

In summary, I put it to you that the high cases of infidelity and unmarried singles is due to poverty, western culture, the career craze, poor upbringing and pornography.

I totally agree with u except the number 6. Polygamy should totally be abolish. People should learn to control their sexual urge. For Christ sake sex is not food. Marriage is meant for just TWO. A cheat will always be a cheat. King Solomon has 700 wives, yet he still cheat on them. "Just be self decipline"
