Everything You Need To Know About Windows 11 by obejorsocial(m): 12:09pm On Jun 30, 2021
Windows 11 is the main version of the Windows NT operating system developed by Microsoft. Windows 11 was announced on June 24, 2021, and is expected to be released at the end of 2021. It is the successor to Windows 10 released in 2015. Windows 11 will be upgraded to compatible Windows 10 devices through Windows Update for free.

Windows 11 Overview
At the 2015 Ignite conference, Microsoft employee Jerry Nixon stated that Windows 10 will be “the last version of Windows.” Microsoft confirmed that this statement was a “reflection” of its views.

The operating system is considered a service, and new builds and updates will be released over time. However, in January 2021, Microsoft released a job list that mentioned the “full visual renaissance of Windows,” which sparked speculation about a new version or redesign of Windows. According to reports, the Windows Visual Update developed under the code name “Sun Valley” aims to modernize the system user interface.

The Windows 11 name was accidentally published in the official Microsoft support document in June 2021. Later on June 15, 2021, leaked images of the Windows 11 desktop beta version allegedly surfaced on the Internet, and then the above version was leaked on the same platform.

The screenshot and the leaked version show an interface similar to the cancelled Windows 10X, as well as a redesigned out-of-the-box experience (OOBE) and Windows 11 branding.

Features of Windows 10
The following are some of the new features of Microsoft’s Windows 11 computer operating system.

More suitable for tablets
Windows 11 seems to be more user-friendly when used in tablet mode.

Remove the keyboard from the tablet, the operating system (OS) will automatically create more space between the icons in the taskbar, add larger touch targets, and make it easier to resize and move windows and to add and touch The same gestures used on the board.
When you use the stylus to write, edit or draw, Windows 11 will also support their tactile feedback.

Widgets
Although widgets are currently available in Windows 10, they have been redesigned to provide an updated experience for Windows 11.
Widgets are a collection of applications for news, weather information, appointments, etc. In Windows 11, they can be accessed through a slide-out screen.

Microsoft said that they are powered by artificial intelligence and its Edge Web browser to provide users with a personalized flow of information.

New Start Button
The start button has been moved from the bottom left corner to the bottom centre of the screen. The taskbar icon has also been moved to the bottom centre.

These changes should make it easier to find what you need.

However, at least for now, the taskbar will be fixed at the bottom centre and cannot be moved, which is different from previous iterations of Windows.

The “Start” button can also display files that you have recently worked on, even if they are on an Android or iOS mobile device.

Multitasking
It’s cleaner to open multiple windows with Snap Layouts and Snap Groups in Windows 11.

Snap Layouts will provide multiple ways to quickly place different applications side by side.

Windows 11 can also remember the applications that you “align” together in this way through its Snap Groups feature, so you can easily multitask in the future.

The new desktop function allows you to set up different “home screens” and combine applications with related functions, such as for work, school, or games.

Better Gaming Experience
As Microsoft makes a series of improvements in Windows 11 to enhance the gaming experience, the game will be improved. AutoHDR will bring better colour and contrast.

DirectStorage from Xbox will also enter Windows 11, so the game loads faster. Microsoft’s game subscription service Game Pass will be built into Windows 11 through the Xbox application, so gamers will have hundreds of games that they can play at any time.

Redesigned Store & Introduction of Android Apps
The company said that the Microsoft Store in Windows 11 has been redesigned to find what you need faster. On the one hand, it looks neater and less cluttered.

Microsoft unexpectedly added that with the help of Intel and Amazon, Android applications will land on Windows 11. Users can search for the apps they want from the Microsoft Store through the Amazon App Store and install them. Android applications can also run in Windows 11 on AMD machines, not just Intel-powered machines.
Microsoft also announced a gradual change in the revenue sharing policy to attract more developers, and application developers can retain 100% of their revenue.

Team Chat
In Windows 11, Microsoft is integrating Chat in its Microsoft Teams chat and video conferencing software into the taskbar. With it, you can communicate with all contacts on Windows, Android or iOS via text, chat, voice or video calls. If the person you are connecting with on the other end has not downloaded the Teams app, you can still contact them via two-way text messages.

Security Features
Here are the new security features that are incorporated in Windows 11:

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
Support Azure-based Microsoft Azure certification
New security innovations such as the Microsoft Pluton security processor
Security Core PC
Microsoft wants you to abandon passwords altogether

1) Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is one of the most prominent security features in Windows 11. TPM is a chip used to protect confidential and sensitive data, such as encryption keys, user credentials, etc., located behind a hardware barrier. As attackers become smarter and use advanced technology to tamper with the data on your PC, this will help protect your PC from malware, ransomware, and other cyber attacks. The TPM chip is added separately to the CPU or integrated into the motherboard of the computer.

Microsoft has made TPM the minimum requirement to run Windows 11. Therefore, you can only run Windows 11 if your PC has a built-in TPM chip. Although some high-end PCs use TPM chips. However, it has now become a necessary condition for using Windows 11 on your PC. Otherwise, you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11.

To make it easier for users, the TPM 2.0 chip will be integrated into all certified Windows 11 systems so that customers can take advantage of the security supported by the hardware root of trust.

2] Support Azure-based Microsoft Azure certification
Azure-based Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) basically verifies the trustworthiness of multiple platforms before you visit. Windows 11 provides out-of-the-box support for Azure-based Microsoft Azure certification. When customers access sensitive resources in the cloud, MAA enables a zero-trust policy to ensure platform security. The policies supported by Azure Attestation verify identities and platforms, helping organizations protect their resources.

3] New security innovations, like Microsoft Pluton security processor
Windows 11 will bring a variety of new security innovations. Including hardware mandatory stack protection, Microsoft Pluton security processor, etc. This will ensure that users are protected from zero-day attacks and strengthen zero-trust security. The zero-trust security approach basically ensures that everyone and everything who wants to access resources on the private network is verified. This is another important security update in Windows 11.

4] Security Core PC
The security core PC adds an extra layer of security under the operating system by combining identity, virtualization-based security, operating system, and hardware and firmware protection. Their resistance to malware infections and firmware attacks has tripled. Moreover, they enable users to boot securely, prevent firmware vulnerabilities, prevent unauthorized access, and more.

5] Microsoft wants you to give up your password
By default, new Windows 11 devices now have no passwords from day one. You can now log in without entering a password. With Windows Hello, Windows 11 is moving to more powerful authentication methods, including face lock, fingerprint, iris, and other biometric technologies. IT administrators in the enterprise can deploy Windows Hello for Business, which involves fine-grained control over authentication methods.

Windows 11 focuses on hardware security requirements to mitigate various firmware attacks, zero-day exploits, malware infections, and other network attacks. All these new hardware securities are compatible with upcoming Pluton-equipped systems and devices that use TPM 2.0 security chips, including Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, etc. The design and built-in features discussed above combine to add an extra layer of security to Windows 11. Microsoft’s main goal this time is to increase productivity through a set of enhanced built-in security features.

What it means for Developers
Although today’s Windows 11 announcement is clearly focused on consumers, some of the biggest news is for a different audience: developers who need to support the platform to be truly successful.

“Today, we will show you the next era of Windows and how we can use Windows [as] an open platform,” Microsoft’s Kevin Gallo wrote. “This means that everyone has open access to the most extensive applications that run on Windows, enabling all developers to build applications and experiences, and enabling users to create, learn, and play.”

Here are five key themes:

The new Windows Store: The new Windows Store in Windows 11 will support more application types than the current store, which supports Universal Windows Platform (UWP), .NET, Win32 (desktop) and PWA Web applications, although these application types will be Improved brilliantly. But the biggest news is that Android apps have been added from the Amazon store. The new store features include a “pop-up” store that allows users to install applications directly from the browser and more revenue sharing options for developers (including retaining 100% of revenue when you bring your own business platform). The preview is coming soon.

Web development improvements: All this is familiar to me, but developers can use PWABuilder3 to PWA from existing Web applications within minutes. The WebView2 runtime will also be included in Windows 11. Tools such as Windows Terminal and the new Microsoft Edge DevTools will be included in Windows 11.

New features of native Windows applications. Project Reunion was officially named the Windows App SDK and will be released later this year. The new ARM64 Emulation Compatible tool will enable developers to build applications that run natively on Windows on ARM and using ARM64EC, developers can mix native ARM and emulated x64 code in the same process and module.

User Interface: WinUI3 supports the new Windows 11 UI with circular geometric figures, refreshed icons, new typography, micro-interactions (such as Lottie animation), and refreshed colour palettes. Microsoft pointed out that new materials like mica also add meaningful hierarchy.

Improvements for game developers: Microsoft’s Game Development Kit (GDK) will be made publicly available for free on GitHub. The GDK includes the tools, libraries, and documentation needed to build games for the PC and adds to the collection of game stack technologies Microsoft provides today to help developers create, publish, monetize, and expand their games. New gaming technologies that were previously only available on the console will also be available in Windows 11, including DirectStorage and Auto HDR.

Check if your PC is Compactible with Windows 11
Microsoft has confirmed that the new Windows 11 will be available for a free upgrade to all compatible Windows computers. The new Windows has minimum hardware requirements.

This means that if your system has a minimum of 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and a 64-bit processor. It can accommodate Windows 11.

I was suspicious of Windows 11 after seeing assembly leaks earlier this month, as radical changes to Windows in the past have proven disastrous for Microsoft, with Windows 8 being the worst of them all. But after seeing the real deal at What's Next for Windows, I'm impressed and hopeful. By the way, what do you think about servers like SSH Server for example.

tbh, I won't be updating to windows 11 any time soo. My current windows 10 pro version 2004 is just too stable for me. I have debloated it and remove many unnecessary stuffs. Everything is so smooth. No need to update.
