Skyfornia:Tell that to people in Imo state. If he had focused on his Biafra agitation without touching the police, the case would have been difference. Let see how Britain will order Buhari to free Nnamdi Kanu. Before you come to nairaland to make selfish post, ask yourself if you are the president, would you good your hands and watch. Kanu personally said there was a type he was offered to take Biafra with the 5 Eastern states but he refused because he feels there are Igbos in some states that should join the 5 states. This and other statement of his will be used against him. Some statements are to be kept on silent mode while the battle is in going. |

Curious345: The only violation here might be d circumstances in which he was repatriated or arrested in Kenya to Nigeria which maybe illegal and violation of human right but on the issue of his Trial or whether he can be returned to nigeria, Yes... because he is a citizen and national of Nigeria irrespective of whether he holds the passport of Nigeria at that period. passport is only but a procedural issue which cannot defeat criminality in its entirety Whether he can seek consular services from Uk, UK can make a either decide whether or not to make a request for such but Nigeria can either refuse or accept this is because of his dual citizenship in line with Art 4 of Convention on certain questions relating to conflict of Nationality which states A State may not afford diplomatic protection to one of its national against a State whose nationality such person also possesses And inline with Customary International law practice because he is a citizen of Nigeria citizen, Nigeria can trial him with their laws and refuse the request of UK Also British government has stated in A guide' published in 2011, which states that: "If you are a dual British national in a third country (that is, a country of which you are not a national), we will offer you our full support. If you are a dual British national in the country of your other nationality, we would not normally offer you support or get involved in dealings between you and the authorities of that state. We may make an exception to this rule if, having looked at the circumstances of the case, we consider that you are particularly vulnerable". This therefore means they would not offer consular services and the only remedy is that if UK believes the trial in Nigeria does not follow due process or there exist several violation of human right against the person of Nnamdi Kanu durinf trial they may decide to raise international concerns through the United Nation authorities |

escapefromusa: It vaires. Britain could interfere , sometimes violently if its citizens were harmed, (that's how the Bini kingdom got conquered by the British because one of their citizens was killed for disrespecting the traditions of the land...and said brit was warned several times)...and sometimes if its economic rights are threatened. But even then, UK interference, or any western interference, can be seen by the country as 'colonial interference' (That's how Indonesia got away with hanging several drug dealers from Western countries, despite the begging.) 1 Like |

That’s why the American/Isreal passport is rightly feared, dem no born you well to kidnap a traveler on any of these passports. If it means bombing the whole ABJ to free their citizen, it will be done. Ask the kidnappers in the north and Idi Amin(Entebbe) |

Monogamy:Just like they were duly informed when this same tyrant of a president tried to illegally arrest Dikko on their soil abi? Even if you don’t have sense try to have some knowledge of history. The British authorities have already denied any knowledge of his arrest, they do not lie lie like Nigerian politicians but in any case Kanu is a British citizen and is entitled to all the rights and protections stated in that letter in line with the British constitution. This whole case has an international angle to it which will make it extremely difficult for the Nigerian government to prosecute. 1 Like |

Thanks for another enlightening comment. Don't know why people don't realise that between two nations, the one favoured by the balance of trade has the most to lose in any standoff. Will Britain sacrifice her economic interests in Nigeria over this if push comes to shove? Beancounter93: 1 Like |

EkperemoEgbabi: You lack the capacity to introspect. Just look around, which ethnic group is your political ally? Mention one. Those among you who are enlightened enough to try to form productive inter-ethnic and inter-regional alliances, you perceive and treat as betrayers. You think winning is always about brute force, insults and threats. Continue! |
