He shot his only child at Ojota Lagos Rally.

Inspector Lai is one of the most devoted members of the Nigeria Police Force. He's been in service for 11 years. He's a police officer who takes his duty serious. He tries his best to defend the nation and citizens which is his primary assignment. And he carries out orders from his superiors as expected of him.

He knows the state of the nation is bad and worrisome but his hands are tied. What can an ordinary inspector do than to follow orders?

He sees the agitations rising up from different fractions and he knows these agitations are true but what can he do? His life is tied. Tied by the police force and nation at large.

During EndSARS saga in October 2020, he saw citizens massacred by miscreants and his colleagues, he felt some empathy. He saw some of his colleagues too die at the hands of miscreants. But they're force men, they obey orders.

Agitators are rallying people across their states, motivating people for self determination. Here is Inspector Lai, he must follow orders.

In preparation against the Lagos Rally, Odumosu, the Lagos state CP called in his banners and gave them the task, the rally must be truncated. Area Commander Mohammed called his bannermen and passed down Odumosu's command. Inspector Lai in his Ojuelegba station was drafted as one of the foot soldiers to carry out Odumosu's charge.

On the day before the rally, Lai called his only child Femi and told him what Mohammed had instructed them. Warned Femi not to go out of the house, not to talk of going to Ojota. Told Femi's mum to keep him close. He went to the point of meeting with his colleagues. Femi even saw how his dad and others were arranged and started the preparation at Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota on social media. Ready to do Odumosu's bidding.

Morning came and Ojota was calm. Who wan die? Sanwo to Odu, Odu to Moha, Moha to X and others, X to Lai and co... Lai and co must carry out orders.

Femi's friends lured him through WhatsApp to let them go out. He told his mum he was just going to get something around. And before he knew it, they were on Ikorodu road. As a guy na, he loved it too. By God's grace, nothing will happen to them.

The crowd started building...Yoruba nation, NOW... Chanting.

The policemen on ground began opposing them. First, they used water. Sooner, they ran out of that. Next, they used teargas but people brought kerosene this time and applied it on handkerchiefs to neutralize the effect. Then they resolved to rubber bullets. Still, the people's determination was firm.

Sooner, the policemen began shooting in the air. Lai shot in the air like his colleagues. While he was moving without looking at his front, he tripped and there was an accidental discharge. At fate would have it, Femi was hit. Femi fell and people around rushed him.

Thank God, he's alive. Even though he was hit by the side. He was rushed to Àjàyí Crowther Memorial hospital where he was attended to first. Then referred to General Hospital in Ikeja. He was operated on but there was an issue and he was referred to another professional private hospital...

Femi's kidney was hit. The kidney was removed. Thank goodness, we can live on one kidney. But alas, Femi already had issues with his second kidney and was surviving on the shot one.

Now, Femi needs a donor and money for surgery in India.

Lai already resigned. Regretted his involvement in the draft. Good for him, he didn't know he was the one who shot his son. He will beat himself to death or Femi's mum would have "snipered" him in his sleep.

Fiction.

I write.

In saner climates the security agents will come together and fight against corrupt politicians, a coup can sometimes be required... Not looking innocent unharmed protesters claiming following orders. Orders from God?
