A New Healthcare Startup Helping Hospitals And Labs To Reach Out To Patients. by Surjen: 12:26pm On Jul 05, 2021
A new healthcare start up helping hospitals and labs to reach out to patients in covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
The novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, was first detected as a respiratory illness in December 2019 in Wuhan City, China. Since then, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has impacted every aspect of our lives worldwide. In a time when terms such as social distancing have become a part of our vocabulary, it is essential that we understand what measures can be implemented to protect our patients and healthcare workers. Undoubtedly, healthcare providers have had to rapidly alter care delivery models while simultaneously acknowledging the crucial unknowns of how these changes may affect clinical outcomes.
Nigeria and many African countries implemented strict lockdowns and movement restrictions when Covid-19 struck, increasing the uptake of virtual or remote health services.
It was observed that there was a decline in the healthcare delivery in Nigeria during the pandemic as all focus was drawn towards controlling the spread of the covid-19 virus neglecting all other possible healthcare scenarios and as a result of the lockdown and restrictions that were imposed, healthcare services could no longer be easily accessed through the conventional means and this forced many healthcare service providers to adjust to the predicament.
With many health services consumers forced to stay at home, health workers including doctors, hospitals and labs had to turn to health tech platforms to bridge the gap created by the Covid-19 pandemic hence, the healthcare industry needed to rethink how it drove access to the delivery and overall management of healthcare services in Nigeria.
It became evident that healthcare delivery requires the support of new technologies to ensure safe delivery of healthcare packages in Nigeria, reducing risk of exposure of patients and healthcare workers to the Covid-19 virus.
Surjen healthcare, a new healthcare tech startup in Nigeria aims at helping healthcare service providers and consumers by providing a simple solution to the imposed restrictions and minimize risk of exposure of personnel and patients to the Covid-19 virus by providing a digital platform for interaction and delivery of healthcare services in Nigeria.
Surjen plays an important role in minimizing the risk of exposure of patients and health care workers to the covid-19 virus by creating a means of interaction between both parties without physical contact. Healthcare services such as diagnosis, doctor’s consultation and treatment can now be accessed without having necessarily going through the conventiontinal means of going down to the hospitals/labs exposing themselves and others to diseases, stress and the inconvenience of rushing back home before the time frame for movement restrictions elapse.
With Surjen, Doctors, labs and hospitals can now deliver their services where needed without necessarily interacting with the patients and patients need not to go to the hospital anymore where they can be exposed to more risk and stress likewise the healthcare workers. Healthcare needs can now be accessed from the comfort of patient homes.

Comfortable Healthcare has now become a thing from Surjen’s collaboration with government approved hospitals and labs. Hence even during lockdowns and amidst the pandemic, quality healthcare delivery is achievable.
Doctors, Hospitals, Labs and other healthcare providers are also beneficiaries in this as they can now reach out and provide their services to a larger number healthcare service consumers with minimal risk of exposure even with the imposed restrictions.
