The president can choose any body from the position of AIG to be his IGP, anybody who seniors him will have to retire, it is normal rule all over the world

1. Nigerian armed forces comprises of the Nigerian army, navy and airforce.

2. The armed forces have a unified law called the Armed forces act. No mention of police in the act.

3. The president can pick anybody with guidance of the police act and police commission to become his IGP

4. The constitution grants the president the power to pick his IGP and also to extend the tenure of the IGP
