Veteran Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan has passed on. Two months ago, news of the singer battling throat cancer hit the media. However, there are unconfirmed reports that the music star was undergoing chemotherapy at a hospital in the United States.

He had a blossoming career. In the 1990s, he started his career and his first single “Jagbajantis” was released in 2000. This song was a hit in Nigeria. He went on to release other tracks before he signed on to Kennis Music. For his exemplary lifestyle and career, the music icon was made a UN Ambassador for Peace in 2012.

Big Brother Naija star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson said, ‘’RIP Sound Sultan. Your legacy would never be forgotten. May God grant his family strength to bear this great loss. ‘’Natural Something’’ was my ringtone for the longest time. It’s so sad.’’
