I hardly had any interest in the forthcoming Olympics, due to lack of seriousness on the part of various sport associations. Athletics, and a few other hitherto medal winning game, can hardly boast of any competitive athlete. D'TIGERS would be an interesting watch if they keep up with the tempo. Even if they don't get to medal winning position, watching them play would make the Olympics less boring |

Nickshrapnel:I totally agree with you. Football is my numero Uno, while basketball is next. At a time, D'Tigress were very promising. I see young Nigerians with huge talents playing BB in my hood, every Saturday morning. I observe that they are mostly from comfortable to wealthy homes. These ones may never have the opportunity of engaging each other in youth competitions. Some of them would travel out to study and never exploit their talents. A few would be discovered, as in the case of the present D'TIGERS. No viable collegiate BB competition, no lucrative professional club league. It's mostly part-time. The Atlantic and Sahara conference leagues are hardly well publicised 2 Likes |

27Pushing30: Don't support evil. What is good for the goose is good for the gander A white TV personality would've been forced to resign as you said, SAS should be given the same treatment Racist comments are inhumane, emotional or not Stop supporting evil because "you like him" 2 Likes |

Because you are not really a sports buff. Basketball and Rugby is national pastime after Football. Have you heard of Manu Ginoboli the legendary SA Spurs PG/SG and 4 time NBA champion, he is an Argentine . Argentina sports spine is basically Italy/Spannish heritage in fact the Argentines are called the South American Europeans as the only country in that continent that the ratio of Europeans to aborigines is about 90:10. In Italy after football, rugby and basketball come next. mansakhalifa: |

Blueelf: I can never support a white man being asked to resign because he said what smith said. Hence I will only say this again ... sport is a very emotional thing and smith has NOT crossed the line with that statement in anyway whatsoever. Very soon you guys will say pundits should not be too critical of players due to their mental health 1 Like |

She responded! Chiney Ogwumike is a Nigerian-American basketballer and radio/TV presenter. She has represented the US at junior level and won gold with them at the World University Games and at Under 19 level. She has also represented them at the World 3x3 championships. She was ESPN's Nigeria presenter for a long time and she has often reported about Nigerians in the NBA and WNBA. She once presented a show about her life that explained how she did her internship in Abuja, how she enjoys Nigerian culture, etc. She's also the first black woman to present a national radio show for ESPN. I'll emphasise again, she works for ESPN, the same media company that Stephen A. Smith works for. This was her response to Mr Smith's comments. Chiney Ogwumike @chiney As someone who has seen Mr. Smith’s daily grind, I have so much respect for my ESPN fam... But as a proud Nigerian-American, whose name gets mispronounced daily, we HAVE to do better. Chinenye means God gives. Our names have beautiful meaning & should be celebrated! https://mobile.twitter.com/chiney/status/1414693124593504257 90% of people that responded agreed with her, but a few Nigerians attacked her for changing her name from Chinenye to Chiney, while a few foreigners took Mr Smith's side. Meanwhile, everybody is still monitoring the situation with the Ogwumike sisters. Erica, the youngest of the sisters, was the first to declare her intention to play for Nigeria. She's currently at the D'Tigress training camp and she has the best shot (of the three sisters) at playing for Nigeria. Nneka Ogwumike, the eldest of the sisters, has won two World Cups with the USA, but she has been cut from the US Olympic team. Many Nigerians have been calling for her to play for Nigeria for years. She's the biggest star of the three sisters. She has also been included in the Nigerian provisional list for the Olympics, but they are awaiting FIBA approval. The US has agreed to her decision to play for Nigeria, but will FIBA agree? Remember, she has won two World Cups for the US. Chiney is also in the Nigerian list. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

kenddys: You're an ijiot for saying this , it is people like you who let mediocrity thrive in Nigeria and if you must know I've won a national award in Scrabble , something no one in your lineage has ever accomplished. To make matters worse , the essence of my post flew right over your head dimwit. |

kenddys: You asked for a national award and I gave you one , mention what any miserable member of your lineage has accomplished. And as I have to spell it out to you , the win in a friendly tournament shouldn't be celebrated as such as only wins in competitive matches ought to be celebrated , of what essence is winning only friendlies and losing out at the Olympics , guy give yourself brain |
