At the end of the day, we will come to really recognise the fact that Dangote doesn't mean good for the Nigeria economy. 1 Like |

Why would he not dominate the oil industry? Others who had looted and stolen the oil wealth of this country, what did they do with the money? How many of them built refineries and long lasting businesses in the country? All they do is spend on frivolous things buy private jets and luxury cars, a good example is OTEDOLA, he made his fortune from the oil industry and what did he put back? Instead he sold his oil company, no sane person should blame Dangote if he dominates here again, because he sees opportunities where others are blinded to such opportunities 7 Likes 1 Share |

It is like everybody always seems to forget the refinery is been built on a Free Trade Zone owned by the Chinese who would still get some , I think 2% of the profit, not sure the percentage. The purpose of the refinery is for export so no body is dominating anybody, but definitely the local market would be saturated with products. Biko let stop the criticism we should encourage Alhaji and his team working tirelessly to put our nation on the map for great things. 3 Likes |

PAWG: If he was from your tribe what would’ve been your submission? That's what is wrong with the ZOO. Everything is viewed thru an ethnic lens regardless of how horrible and detrimental it is to the populace. How can one individual be strategically placed to play MONOPOLY and CONTROL every facet of a country's economy? Are you for real? 1 Like |

PAWG: It’s very easy to spot you guys. Yes it's easy to spot US guys, but it's EASIER to spot a DUMB ASS. It's obvious you lack any reasoning ability. Just because you're a FULANI man negates the fact that allowing just one man to CONTROL all the vital commodities of a country is detrimental to its economy and security! Please, if you have nothing smart to say other than showing your ignorance and being an ethnic jingoist, then SHUT your TRAP! 1 Like |

That publication is either willful or inadvertent ignorance personified. 1. The objective is to encourage investments in local refining capacity and not importation 2. Importation is a disincentive for investment in refineries. There have been many license holders for refinery for over 2 decades who did not even break ground talkless of buying a refining asset. Why would anybody with license consider refinery when he's making mad margins on importations and STEALING from subsidy? 3. The license for importation pegged as such is for cases of sudden increase in local demand beyond refining capacity or cases of deferment (e.g. when Refineries breaks down or are shut down for maintenance). There would have been some off-take commitments which are mostly birthed in long-term contracts. The provision for importation is this scenario is to cover these short-fall when they happen. 4. Dangote refinery is largely provisioned for export. Dangote's products will be bought in $$$. He's incentivised to sell abroad than at home, so importation license is of little use to him as it will rob him of margins 5. The ignorance of the reporter in Oil & Gas business shone through, importation license can never translate to "dominate" Oil & Gas business. Dominate where? Upstream? Midstream or Downstream? Meanwhile I wonder what some of you lot want. In one breath you want local refineries to be fixed, in another you're complaining of Import license.... 1 Like 2 Shares |

PAWG: I DO NOT give a DAMN where you come from. Whether you're from the south or not, all I am saying is that you lack the capacity to reason. Otherwise, how can any reasonable person NOT understand the implications of allowing ONE person to CONTROL all the essential commodities of a country. Inspite of all your morose talk, you have NOT been able to articulate why it's okay to allow one man to control the economy. All you seem to have issue with is the messenger and NOT actually the message. Get a grip, would you? |
