Unfortunately, this is where we found ourselves. Lagos state government empowering area boys calling them LASMA, KAI & task force. There excesses is so much without checks. They own most of the Danfo and the small buses used for commercial purpose. If a neutral individual tries to do business where they operate..... they will fraustrate life out of the person by everyday arrest and eventual impounding the vehicle. May God help us 3 Likes |

beardedboy: That is how they impound most of those vehicles. The majority of people arrested for road traffic offenses in Lagos are ignorant that they committed any. Road signs are always hidden behind trees or removed by these "traffic enforcers" who then hang around waiting for their prey. You're even lucky. In many cases, LASTMA and the agberos they work with will direct you to take one way so a second team hiding at the middle or end of that road will impound it. 6 Likes |

Go there again, and you will see the sign. My problem with them is they will put the sign where you can not see it while driving or they are rather too small. |

Oba Akinjobi way, Ikeja (directly opposite LASUTH main gate). There's a 'U-turnable' space like that directly opposite LASUTH main gate. Sometimes, you'll even see the traffic controller iron box at that turn. It would always look like a legitimate path for an unsuspecting driver, but na big trap & source of income for the policemen observing you from afar (at the intersection near the bridge). Once you take the bait, na you go make the full U-turn and jejely go & drive into their hands at the intersection (controlled by traffic light). Is there a warning signpost? Yes, there is - behind a tree. But until recently when the tree was cut down, it used to be largely hidden by the low hanging branch of that tree. Hardly would you notice at a first glance. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Cele bridge roundabout as you drive back to connect Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. Those guys milked me twice. The signpost is not even there. The way their urchin jumped into my car, I swear, if I had a gun, I would have shot him dead! My advise is that you use Google Maps when driving. It will to a large degree direct your movements in around the streets. 4 Likes |

beardedboy:The truth is that the Lagos State Government has become overly dubious and cruel in their extortion of Lagosians. I can bet that 90% of the cars impounded were wrongly and deceitfully done. I have experienced a similar situation with yours (@Isolo descending from Daleko bridge) and so many situations. You have Lastma officials and police conniving with some touts to perpetrate these crimes. 4 Likes |

27Pushing30: Devil's advocate spotted. The activities of overzealous and unscrupulous lastma/ViO have led to many an unnecessary death . There are many such hot spots where these predators lie in wait to extort hapless lagosians. Seems ex -gov Ambode has suffered from there excess before and so cautioned their operations very well. As per Governor SanwoOlu I pray his eyes and ears will hear the cries of their victims and help out 5 Likes |
