Why not ban agberos altogether. So, it's ok to be an agbero but not pose as a masquerade. |

I miss my growing up years in Mushin, that was when Masquerade festival were colourful and made sense. The snow white boy masquerade on horseback that closed the festival was a delight to watch. |

Another good move by BRF,cant wait till whn u will contest for Aso rock seat, He should also ban agberos from d parks because these guys are pain in d ass. Oga musiwa l got ur point but l think its off the issue on ground 1)fed uni admit student 4rm all states 2)d north that have so MANY universities as u pointed out still hv almajiris causing menace there, l think d problem is these boys(nuisance) hv low self esteem on a lighter note, its like our frnd lagbaja had an ideal of wht was coming, hence he decleared somedays back tht he will soon unmask |

Re: Pose As Masquerade, Go To Jail, Lagos Gov Warns Miscreants by GODSON2009(m): 9:54pm On May 16, 2011 |
the traditional masquaerades association for want of a better description needs to get their act together and monitor and sensor their members to know the charllatans amongst them as its obvious area boys have infiltrated their ranks pretending to be masquerade, culture is identity and it is key to tourism in lagos and naija generallywithout the diverse culure eyo, masquerades etc the state will just be a blank concrete jungle |

Rumor has it that the "Ara-Orun Egungun Association" of Lagos has decided to challenge Fashola in the courts. According to their spokes-person (He insists he is not a "person" and should be properly addressed as "Irunmole" !), Fashola has no "Locus-standi", being an ordinary mortal, to make laws affecting Ara-Orun (Celestial characters! ) and by virtue of their own constitution (a copy of which he said is available in the great beyond! ) "No Ara-orun maybe impeded by anyone, in the lawful conduct of their business"! When further quizzed about the exact nature of their "business", he retorted rather angrily, "To chance women"! When our Reporter pointed out to "it" that wearing the GARB does not make anyone supernatural, he took two steps backwards, made a deafening sound "Hooooaaawh" ,.,.,, and our Reporter took to his heels! (That is a bad example of investigative journalism, l dare say! Such is the legal battle that will now take place at the World Court in the Hague. Rumor also has it that one of the Judges himself regularly "transforms" into an Egungun! The Judge involved denied the accusations as baseless and said it was a calculated attempt to rubbish his family name and ancestors who are all christened as "Egunjobi"! The whole brouhaha was further compounded when one "Ara-Orun" was sighted at Mr.Biggs cooling-off with a chilled bottle of Stout and Chicken-wings! When our Reporter sought to know why he was eating our (human) food, he retorted that "Heaven" was much coooler than over-here on earth and he needed to "cool-down" his TEMPER-ature less he becomes too aggressive to humans! That response stomped our Reporter and when he tried to "ask another question", Ara-Orun said his "Body Temperature" was suddenly over-loading like a failed Fukishima Reactor plant and "anything-can-happen"! Of course, our Reporter sensed danger and diplomatically said he will "be back" soon! If you disapprove of BRF's move to poke-his-nose in matters of Ara-Orun, please donate towards our legal fund! If you "approve" sign your name and address below and one member of the Ara-Orun community would pay you a visit to "discuss and exchange ideas"! Hoooawh,Uunnnnnh, iwo tani yen? BTW: Another unconfirmed rumor has it that the only reason Ghadafi has not being killed was that he is a staunch member of the Egungun-Ara Orun!. He is reputed to have said "The NATO Coalition cannot kill me" except they burn my "Ieyewuu", (the local name for the Garb that makes the transformation possible, a sort of Time Machine, first discovered in Lagos in the dark ages!) More information would be posted here in due course . |

tom28: Na wah for you o , I like the idea sha but as a point of correction, The people or rather ladies in your picture can only qualify as masquerades is they acquire an 'add on' which is ask or beg for money or if I put it a more civilize way 'seek for fund, help or donation' either by begging or forcing and that brings Lagbaja into the masquerade frame, abi na lie? |
