The 2021 Batch B stream I prospective Corps Members (PCMs) have been sensitized on the need to be conscious in lieu of security challenges in the country as they go about their one-year service.

Mr Danjuma Ibrahim of the DSS said that security represents the protection of life and property and the freedom from all tendencies that cause instability and unrest.

The statement was made during the security awareness lecture on Friday at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.

The security expert highlighted some possible causes of security threats which could be encountered by PCMs at their places of primary assignments, such as: political related issues, student unionism, ethic and communal matters, kidnapping and arm robberies, religious bigotry, cyber crimes and misuse of social media.

He assured the corps members of the committment of the security agencies in the State to the security of corps members serving in the State. However, he enlightened the PCMs on some measures to take to ensure their personal security. He advised them to always be alert and aware of their immediate surroundings, avoiding night crawling and traveling, among others.

Mr Danjuma concluded by stressing that all PCMs should not be afraid of asking for help and they must trust their instincts.
