Does Nworie river still exist?

Fuason industries polluted it throughout the 80s till it dried up with weeds and oaks in place of its once flowing waters.
I wonder how any healthy python could live in it.

Oga chief priest, the goats, fowl, fish, snail etc that you have been eating and drinking beer after, were they aggressive? Did they harm anybody? So, why did you now kill and even eat them?
If it's forbidden to kill snakes in such community, then you shouldn't let such snakes be wandering about. Get good animal protection program. Have snake catchers available. This is Nigeria, where MOST people are scared of snakes and don't even know which is venomous or not. Me any snake wey I see, I dey murder am straight.

Eke Nworie, Eke Otammiri, Eke Njaba(depending on the name of the river) is sacrosanct--should not be killed. However, why don't we allow the deity to fight for itself. Though I can't kill it, I won't harass anyone for killing it either. I think Imo indigenes are quite knowledgeable and exposed enough to condescend so low to see this 'nonsense' as a case.

Honestly I would have loved to see a fatal punishment like the death penalty meted on this miscreant students but that might be too stiff and inhumane.

This is the difference between education vs well formed mind. You came to a host community, you failed to learn their culture, you saw a sleeping wildlife in the river, you decided to kill it because you were threatened by a sleeping serpent.... what a convenient lie.

These snakes were born in this community, these students are foreigners who came to study and in their foolishness they believe they have more rights to the river than the snake.

And some ill informed educated people might yell superstition and they are Christians and muslims but would not tolerate another point of view in spirituality other than theirs, even though the superstitious religion seeks to preserve balance in nature, safeguards trees and wildlife vs the Christian religion which promotes man as the hegemonic power and has given man the justification to eat, kill and destroy wildlife willynilly.

Africans are quick to shout superstition especially the ones who think they are educated but are illiterate who went to university but the asians have preserved their culture, appreciates it and even the westerners have accepted it.
