Grupo: Emancipate yourself from mediocrity... The only thing the Toyota has is ruggedity and reliability. Engine? Good, but not great Performance? Mehhh Interior? That shit looks like a CASIO calculator Fuel efficiency? The Honda civic beats it, although it's fairly good, but not the best... If you have the funds available, buy a Mercedes or beemer and enjoy ride quality... These German cars have a way of making you look forward to driving your car every day... Gravatar: This is the single and only reason why i will always buy a Toyota in Nigeria. Simplicity over performance. Most Toyota enthusiast have either suffered under mechanics or are avoiding the nightmare all together. If i am to ever own a fleet of expensive cars, there must be a Toyota there. Honda's are performance driven no doubt while Toyota's are built to take abuse and last, this is not saying Honda's dont last or Toyota's dont have performance engines either. Both manufacturers know their strengths and have built on it over the years, a Toyota is not trying to be a Honda and neither is a Honda trying to be a Toyota. Pick the Civic & Corolla rivalry for example, over the years the Civic is known to be slightly faster and more fuel efficient, even in 2021. But that didnt push Toyota into adding a bigger engine or a Turbo into the Corolla, its still that same slow (130HP) economic car, where as the new Civic comes with a 1.5litre Turbo. The Corolla still out sells the Civic even with all its bells and whistles. 6 Likes |

PAQ:there are some arguments I don't even bother involving myself with and this particular topic fits the bill. I personally love German engineering in cars right from the day I first drove a friends COJA BMW years ago but fact of the matter is that for environments especially like Nigeria's, Toyota are the vehicles that'll give you the least headaches engine wise and it fits down to their founding philosophy to make engines that can easily be repaired/maintained by the average mechanic or Kazeem as we like to call them here unlike what obtains in a Benz for example. Most car owners in Nigeria find the thought of spending upwards of 100k to service their Benz at a dealership highly provocative which is down to the economy we find ourselves in but is the best option. Does Honda make good vehicles ? Yes of course, we even hear their engines are "bulletproof" according to oyinbo people. Hell, the Civic was Honda's reply to Corolla which was in its first or second generation when launched but at the end of the day, you just have to pick your poison. Drive whatever you want as long as you can afford it's parts and maintenance when necessary and ignore these infantile díck measuring competitions 6 Likes |
