the irony is that some people are still mentioning uefa. was it uefa that asked terry to kick sanchez off the ball from behind? or was it uefa that asked fabregas to be brought down in the box? are soem people just too illiterate or were they just born stvpid?

Barca lost of form is cus of tiredness nt 4getting dat we have played more matches dan any team in Europe with one of de smallest squad as a top European team we need 2 buy a left back like Bale or any gud left back and a central defender like Thiago Sliva or any gud central defender we need a gud winger/striker like Hulk and also a gud keeper, Valdes is nt gud enough.

The truth of the mater is Chelsea knows how to frustrate barca anyday, if you ask barca one team they pray never to meet anytime, they will tell you that team remains chelsea

otokx: Pep's bad tactics has caused us this game yet again. He got it all wrong especially with the substitutions.

Stealthy, Ajanlekoko and coogar have very good points worthy of note. Especially stealthy and Ajanlekoko!

I couldnt agree more with all your submissions. Fabregas was very key yesterday but strangely enough he got substituted for Missfiring and mispositioned keita. Alexis shouldve been sacrificed for pedro when the goal was needed and the manager couldve urged the players to shoot more. Did you notice messi hit the bar when he abruptly hit the ball as against the brownian motion dribble chelsea players felt he was accustomed to doing in such situations?

My take on the whole game to me should also be extrapolated to define barcas 2011/2012 season- They lost concentration of certain games! My mind keeps reflecting on the real sociedad game (2-0 in 13 mins only to draw), ACmilan (2-1 up only to draw), Madrid games(2-2 spanish cup final, 3-2 spanish cup final, 2-0 to 2-2 lacopa del rey semis. . . etc.) the list is endless. Then they did it again yesterday- 2 goals up. chelsea terry down, how could they have conceded a goal like that? It was absolutely dissapointing.

The two most worrying facts apart from all the "not taking shots and so on mentioned afore" should be that

1.) messi looked jaded and bereft of ideas.

2.) that pep looked like he had taken enough and wouldnt continue with the Job. his body language kept saying so. I hope he doesnt Barca need him. He just needs to learn from his mistakes and work harder for next season. Most of his key players are young (below 25) and many of the injured ones that were so missed this season like Villa and that dutch guy (cant remember his name now) would return.

messi needs to be given a break. Perhaps till the lacopa del rey final. Let CR7 chop pecici again. (make messi dash am). The damage of playing many games would later tell on him (CR7). By then Madrid wouldve sacked that ego maniacal prick-mourinho!

I pray guardiola renews his contract. He shouldnt cower now. Greatness must hit a few bumps.

But Barca is certainly not approaching declivity as some morons already suggest. They had a bad game because they were too slow at times and mostly because their best player let them down. It happened to Roberto baggio in 94. ALSO THERE IS THE CURSE OF TRYING TO DEFEND THE CHAMPIONS LIGUE. NO TEAM HAS DONE IT-NOT CAPELLOS AC MILAN, NOT DEL BOSQUES REALMADRID, NOT PEPS BARCA. . . YET!
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by sebod(m): 12:49pm On Apr 25, 2012
i luv barca with passion. but i belief our poor form this season is down to overconfidence. Pep believed he could make do with the relatively small squad we have.his failure to buy a central defender, finding an alternative to David villa, over rellaince on Messy and his negative approach to some mathches really cost us the season.we played against madrid with no striker albeit the fact that he has already lost the league with his words and belief.
solutions-
1-sign thiago silva and jordi alba to bolster the defence
2-sign a prolific top striker to ease messy of the burden
3-give messy so rest inrespective of his duel with cr7
4-learn to play without messy.

am not happy not because we lost the league and ucl but because we lost them to mourinho which will give him more power to talk up his nonsence.

U appear short in knowledge of the rules of the game plus its application. Ask yourself, why was sani Keita not shown a yellow card instead of the red he was given at the world cup? The rule is clear about indiscipline of any form especially when the occuring incidence took place when the ball is not in play or the adjudged player doesn't have the ball to contend with. It was something of the kind that got Nesta a yellow card, though of a slightly different measure.

Stealthy: Chelsea beat us fair and square. They were the better team over two legs, because football is as much about defending as it is attacking or passing (in our case). We scored only 2 goals and conceded 3 goals. We cannot begin to claim to have been the better team, whether Chelsea parked the bus or not.

Messi had a dreadful match. But this match showed what has plagued us this season:

1.) 3 at the back is not sensible against any world class team.

2.) We need to be able to shoot from outside the box. There were countless times when our players had the ball at the edge of the box, Chelsea didn't press because they weren't expecting a shot, and our boys did not shoot because they only know how to pass.

3.) We slowed the game to walking pace - perfect for the defending team to get back into position.

4.) We need reinforcements in defence. Interestingly, Chelsea scored not from set pieces, but from nice attacking plays that we would be proud of ourselves.

5.) Who takes out Cesc for Keita when you need to score?

At the end, we are not in the final because we have concentrated on racking up high possession stats, at the cost of scoring. I love Barcelona and I love our tiki-taka, but changes have to be made to the team. Sometimes, when I watch Dortmund or Arsenal attacking, I see an attacking pace that you rarely see with our team these days. We have become so Messi dependent that our other attackers simply won't shoot, but pass to Messi.

Pep has done a good job so far, but I hope he can learn from his huge mistakes this season. We were never consistently good this season. We had a long winning run, but you hardly felt at ease in many of those matches. We are not the force that we were and Pep needs to take the blame and make the necessary corrections.

Indepth analysis, bro. I tink david villa is being missed here. Imagine villa, messi and sanchez upfront. And the quartet of cesc, xavi, ini and busquet in midfield wuld have grinded out victory. This is football, you win some, lose some. Barca was graceful in defeat.

Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by logica(m): 1:37pm On Apr 25, 2012
It's funny that all it took to score 2 goals against Barca was the combination of Lampard and Ramires. Barca always has problems dealing with fast players (Arsenal's Walcott comes to mind). With that considered it's then obvious that unlike his opponents who study Barca, Pep does not study and prepare for the opposition (arrogance or just being inexperienced?).

The goal Chelsea scored in London started with a pass from Lampard to Ramires. Now in Barcelona, Ramires simply passes to Lampard and makes a run; and he received the pass through the statuesque defense line? Just a 2-man pass combination? No alarm bells went off as soon as Ramires made the run? Even I watching, alarm bells went off in my head as soon as Mascherano slipped as he challenged Lampard.

Messi messed up because there was too much pressure and dependence on him, but the defense messed up because they were not prepped by Pep (I am assuming they were not prepped as that's the only reason they could not preemptively spot danger).

I will advise you Barca fans not to argue with people who don't know the rules of football and never even played monkey-post talk less of even Principal Cup.

i think messi was the one that cost us the game

he gave away possession that led to chelsea goal in london

he missed a penalty that could av killed off the match

he was less enforcing as usual

but i will never castigate him cos he's human and already looks tired coupled with the overdependence on him.

he still remains the best ever but am afraid he might have just lost the ballon d"or to ronaldo

I wonder why Pep didn't re-shape after going 2-0 up. undecided undecided

Over the past 3 games, Messi and Xavi had a lot of misplaced passes, giving away possession easily, something they don't often do. I don't think it has to do with the presence or absence of Villa. Me thinks Xavi's age is telling and his form is on a steady nose-dive and Messi, . . . . . . . . . looks like he's having psychological problems grin .

This might spell the end of the Barca dominance era. cheesy cheesy

The reign is partially over, a new coach is needed.
Pep has taken the club far enough.
He's good achieving great success within a short period of time.
One of the best coaches of his generation.
He now needs a new challenge abroad.

This is just a minor set-back. Barcelona will be back challenging for all these titles next year. In fact, the football is richer for outcomes like the one of yesterday.
