Students who came after the completion of their degree abroad had to qualify for the FMGE test (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam) which will now be replaced by the NEXT exam (National Exit Test). The NEXT Exam will be conducted under the authority of the Medical Commission of India. The National Exit Test or NEXT will become operational on such date, within three years from the date of commencement of the National Medical Commission Act 2019 (NMC), a common final year undergraduate medical examination, to be known as the NEXT, will be held for granting license to practice medicine as medical practitioners and for enrolment in the State Register or the National Register, as the case may be.
