Hello fellow Nairalanders
I use a Rav 4 2001 model, 4wd drive. One morning woke up to a funny sound on the engine, called my mechanic who came to take the car away. After checking, he said it was the engine Melta and the oil pump inside the engines isn't working normal, to cut the story short, after the engine has been fixed another problem developed. A heavy vibration all over the car when its on and not on gear but when you engage it on gear, the vibration seizes. He says it was the hassle and it needs to be fixed. Hassle mech came took it away and got it fixed. Exactly 3 days, car finds it difficult engaging on gear 3, called the mech back and he's saying that I need to change the gear box (10 pin transmission gear box).

Option 2 is that I should buy a gear box of a 2wd drive so that he would convert it from 4wd to 2wd to avoid future occurrence. Please house kindly advice as am been milk mentally and financially.

@ Gazzuzz come to my aid.

Does it mean, the gear box cannot be repaired?

Nigeria mechanics hardly repair gear box to perfection. You will become a regular customer and ATM to them. If you are in Lagos just contact Kashif. Best advice is to get a new one

Another one bites the dust. You should have asked questions first before calling Kazeem
