The first day of festival is called Ìwọ Pópó which is the traditional cleansing of the town. Royalties walk and dance in the community in heart of gratitude for witnessing another year and praying for another successful year


Àtùpà Olójú mẹ́rìndínlógún , the 16 sacred lamp is always lit during the beginning of the annual Osun-Osogbo festival and history made it known that this year(2021) is the 500 years of its exitance.


Ìbọrí Adé ( Appeasement of Royal Crown)

Ìbọrí-Adé is an event where they bring out the crowns of the past rulers of the Ataojas of Òsogbo, calling on their spirits to appease them for blessings for the king and the community.


The procession of the Arugbá Ọ̀sun to the river goddess is a milestone during Ọ̀sun Òsogbo Festival. It is considered that the bearer of the calabash is to be a virgin and she must remain a virgin as long the duty calls.
