The Apothecary Diaries


This is one anime show I've been quietly watching this season...
It's a really good historical drama...

Premise:
"Set in a fictional country based on Imperial China, the series follows Maomao, a young girl working as an apothecary in the red-light district, who is kidnapped and sold to the Imperial Palace as a servant. However, she still retains her curious and eccentric personality and plans to work there until her years of servitude are over, without drawing the attention of anyone. One day, after hearing rumors that the emperor's children are critically ill, she begins to investigate the cause, using her experience as an apothecary, and successfully solves the mystery of their illness. Even though she intends to remain anonymous, her actions eventually catch the attention of an influential eunuch, and soon finds herself solving various mysteries for the royal court."

I never finished 'Moving'. I never liked shows that are too long. 20episodes, I just can't.

Give me weekly episodes, give me 10 episodes or less for the first season, I'm alright.

Maybe on a later date, I will go back to it but I highly doubt it.

Even though I tend to disagree with some people here and argue with them, I very much prefer those over the ones who make random statements that they cannot defend and resort to insults

The exact reason why i am easily weaned off K-drama sphere, 20 plus episodes with 1hr plus runtime per episodes is just so herculean to chow through!. Evermore so in this "tik tok" infested era that the average attention span is like 30 secs!.

I have noticed recently that they are now doing 8 episodes run, with a 45 minutes episode run time. They should stick to that!.

But Moving never feels boring even with 20 episodes tbh...


When you watch the show, you'll understand why 20 episodes were needed...
It has shifts forward and backwards in time...with a lot of story behind the cast...

At bolded even at that, I'm sure they could have made few episodes shorter than 20 and still get thier point across.

Attention span being at an all time low isn't even major bone of the issue, many episodes ultimately means a larger budget in most cases, and as major streaming giants like Netflix and Disney are already buying into thier market, this will force thier hands to conform to the market model of these streaming giants who would bankroll the projects and the signs are already evident that they are changing.

You can argue that "Death Game" had quite a complex character development and multiple plot lines that could easily have stretched for 20 episodes at least, but the fact, that, it was just 8 episodes, and they were able to get their points across and deliver a masterpiece made it much much easy for me to assimilate and enjoy.

Nahhh they should stop this 8 episodes crap they just started, that was how these Hollywood people started cutting down the episodes of series that it is now remaining for them to just put out 4 episodes as a full season. Before you watch and connect with the series, now after 8 episodes boom end. No please.
