As a HR that I'm also operated in a British school, either your friends you guys went for the Interview are not telling you the truth of they got the job or not.

Two, top management may have decide to look at other credentials and found a more suitable person. Never the less, you maybe called back sometimes.
Oga you are speaking based on sentiments. That interview they did was to show some high ranking officials/owners in that school who are onlooking unknown to the applicants that interviews are being conducted.

The bottom line is that the main candidates are already selected. That one na just formality.

Ask those that went for nnpc interview. You nor hear say people dae buy job for this country aside man know man oh.

Please I need a candid explanation for this, if you have any.

I will try to be brief as much as possible.

So last two months I was invited for an interview in a new school that is about to begin by septamber, apparently a branch of one of the top missionary secondary schools in Nigeria. We were 22 in number that appeared for interview on that fateful day. The interview was for TWO subject teacher positions. I was interviewed for one of the subjects.

We all wrote a written test for one hour. At the end, according to them; Six persons emerged highest scorers. I was among the six persons. I.e, Three persons for EACH of the two subjects.

We were then subjected to an oral interview and micro teaching which lasted for about 20mins for each person. Well, I was the first. answered most of the questions that were thrown at me. I left feeling very satisfied. Just like you would write an exam and leave the hall feeling very good because you know you wrote well, that was how I felt that day.

Well, after the interview we exchanged contacts and I and the other guys have been communicating ever since. Till now no news from the HR team that interviewed us. And it's 2months already.

Well, the HR number was in the mail he sent to me for interview, So today I decided to call the HR. I was shocked to hear that the position we were interviewed for has been filled.

I am wondering? What really happened? Why didn't they pick from amongst the six of us Just why? I'm just being curious!

my brother dem don slot in their own... HR do that one for annual report lol

It is unfortunate. See it from the perspective that you cannot get all jobs you apply to.

So God's favour is responsible for the endemic corruption that has been bedevilling Nigeria?

No wonder countries with religious fanaticism as a national culture, never tend to progress.

Make una dey talk truth o.

Even corruptions favor an average Nigerian, they call it grace.

It's well o.

You have said it all.

A working society has no need for grace, justice and fairness is all that is required for everyone to get what is due.

That is the way of merit.

He has put his person there, he only used you guys as formality to show the comapny he is doing his job.

I experienced same thing, I had to send the HR a mail, telling her my mind.

I passed all stages the last stage she gave me a wrong time for Interview, when I logged him to the zoom, was told meeting was over, I checked my mail again to be sure I logged in on time, I discovered she gave me 11am as time, and I logged in by 10:30, fully prepare, was told they did the interview with the MD by 10, she gave the three people that came through her the right time,

She saw me as threat, because if the MD should interview me, he must pick me.

I am not disputing your point, in fact, your narration is now a menace in our society, but mind you, the school OP is talking about is not a government own where such practice is so rampant. Most times, the people we go to interview with will get the job and won't tell us even if we ask them.

I still insist, most times, after the interview and all that, senior management may still decide to look at very different candidates entirely, alot happen during recruitment and decision are taken in a speed of light.

Also, your point is a possibility SHA.

This corrupt practice isn't limited only to the public/government sector.

I work in a private multinational company here in Naija and I know what's happening in the shadows.

I agree that decisions are made with a speed of light but so many people are called for interviews, they will commend and praise you if you perform well but they will only employ three category of people, the one from community slot, the one who wets their palms secretly with money or anything else and the one recommend by an high profile individual.

You see those experience this and that companies talk about for a graduate trainee, most times na wash and fat lies.

Next time you attend an interview, don't go home expecting to be called, you need to lobby.
Before I normally preach against lobbying. But I wrote a test of recent for a Fed govt job, I scored over 80%. I went home relaxed waiting to be called for appointment. It later dawned on me that people who scored ridiculously low marks who "know the way" have been receiving their appointment letters.
Before outsiders can be considered for a lucrative job in Nigeria, wives, children and relatives of staff members or directors would be considered first, then a few lucky outsiders that can DISTURB them would be considered.
Next time after interview or test, collect the no. of one of the existing workers make him a friend.
The first Teaching job I got, the principal had already removed my name from the list of people to be called, but one staff member I built relationship with fought on my behalf and I was called

Prolly a slot from an insider filled the position.

For every vacancy, each staff gets a slot to fix his person. But they still go ahead to conduct test and interviews for formality sakes.

That's Nigeria for you

It's called strategize recruitment...
Never heard of that?

They need few candidates to take over a position...

The HR or boss has a personal candidate...
It's above the law to just bring in this favorite guys to fill in the position..

So you have to form a fake interview process with lots of steps ...

At the end...you guys go back home sleeping on false hope

While the real candidate resume office...

The HR enter the record on system" candidate are called upon and successful gone through series of interview and verification of file...we satisfies with so so so applicants records and test results...we offer him or a her a job here at so so organization"

You are just baits or decoy

This is exactly the story of Nigeria. Corruption is viewed as 'God's favour' when it works for you but you'll complain if it's the opposite.

Sorry OP. They had already selected who will fill the position even before you applied for it. That's the sad reality of applying for jobs in this part of the world.
Did you know you can write an anonymous review of your current and previous employer on JobHunch? Sign up on the website: thejobhunch.com. It's our own version of Glassdoor, for Nigerian companies. I hope the creators add interview reviews like this one soon, so people who want to work in such companies can be aware of their shady practices.

Thanks, it was something I realized of late. The waiting time might seem long however, God makes things fall in place at the right time. The only unfortunate part is that we are not creating enough jobs in Nigeria.
