Biometrics: Abuja TLS October 26 (standard) (walk in for the 2 children. We couldn't get the same date for them)
Non straight forward mail: November 1st (4 of us)
Request mail for more documents: November
1st (main applicant only)
Requested documents submitted: November 4th (main applicant)
We waited for one week and nothing happened we had to send paid mail asking for progress of application.
Paid mail: November 11th
Decision mail : November 12th (about 20 hours after sending paid mail)
Dispatched from TLS on Friday 12th (same day as decision mail)
We waited anxiously for DHL to deliver but they didn't because of weekend.
We got our visas yesterday evening finally.

It wasn't an easy wait o. If you have money, pls pay for priority because High BP is real o. We endured a lot during the 3 weeks wait.
This journey started early 2020 and I have been reading this thread everyday religiously.
I must thank everyone on this forum for all the helpful contributions. I gained a lot.
My advice is for everyone to try and read far and wide, use Google a lot and ukvi sit (gov.uk) has almost all the information you require as well as your school website and course page. Don't also shy away from asking when you hit a brick wall too.

You can do everything all by yourself and it is far better because you are sure of what you submitted.

Another piece of advice: if you come across any information you feel might be relevant to you during the process of application, screenshot and keep it in your picture gallery. It is better that way because sometimes this information may be difficult to search for when you need them most.

I am already in the UK. I want to start my dependants visa application by next week. What is the best way to go about the proof of funds as I have been in the UK for 2 months now. The money is in my husband's account. It covers him and the kids. I hope I am good to go. Any advice will be highly appreciated. Finally my CAS from Salford just arrived. My advice is always call the application team or whatever team for anything you need fixed or need clarity for. My 2cent I hope it helps!!!

Is it possible if one anticipates that such could be asked to send in in while applying in order to avoid the delay of them sending you a non-straightforward mail.

For instance, the reference letter I used for school application is for my work from 2010 to 2015.

So from your experience, I can reason that I might be asked to show evidence of my work history from 2015- 2021.

So that's why I'm asking if it's possible to send in a letter of reference covering that period during my visa application instead of waiting for a non-straightforward mail from them, which might cause delay.

Kai, sorry about this. How did you make the payment then, cos I believe you should have had an offer to make the deposit.
Anyway, you can check for courses more along your line of study or proceed with the business psychology course they suggested and research on its employability just to be sure. Good luck.

my bro's BRP card obtained at last, after waiting for 3weeks.. I will advise anyone applying to study in UK to note the following;

- that during your visa payment process at the gov website, ensure that you choose your university in the BRP collection criteria under the 'sponsor' option.
- on your visa apllication letter, it may be necessary to indicate that your university will collect your BRP on your behalf. The university CAS letter usually contains an ACL code (specifically for your BRP) used by your university, which should be indicated on your visa application too.

That way, your university can collect your Biometric Resident Permit (BRP) on your behalf... and they will likely collect it faster for you, unlike post office. I know that this topic is hardly discussed here, but it is very important to know, because it will ease your chances in settling quicker after arrival
